Together with our families, we invite you to celebrate our marriage Seminary Hill Orchard & Cidery Callicoon, NY

How we came to be

Here are the sparknotes to our story

We met when we were ~5 years old. We played hide and seek for a few years, ignored each other through most of our pre-teen years, and became best friends in high school. At that time, us dating one another began and ended with our senior prom. Throughout the next few years, we dated most of each other's friends (oops!), and finally ended up getting together the summer before our junior year of college. At the end of the summer, like the true romantic he is, John asked me if I wanted to "do this thing," and I really, really did. We were in a long distance relationship for the next 4 years during college and the first few years of our careers in Virginia and Pittsburgh. Eventually, we decided that if we really wanted to "do this thing," we should probably make sure we like each other when we live in the same place (spoiler: we do!). John moved to Pittsburgh and after a year of pre-marital bliss, we celebrated our 5 year anniversary in Quebec City, where John proposed and my final answer was, "of course." When October 8th comes around, that will have been 4 years ago (!!). Since then, we took a slow start to the first year of our engagement, raised a puppy, got new jobs, move to New York City, planned a wedding, temporarily moved out of NYC for "2 weeks while the pandemic settled down" (it was 5 months), postponed our wedding, started working from home semi-permanently, stayed inside a lot (then didn't, then did again, then didn't, etc.), moved & renovated our new apartment, and spent lots of time at our favorite restaurants, seeing comedy & blues shows, spending time with friends and family and traveling to new places. On our original wedding date (10/17/2020), we had the opportunity to exchange rings & vows with one another alone during a picnic in Central Park. We are so excited to do that in front of all of you this time around! We can't wait to (finally) celebrate and make our marriage official.
