Our Story

2008 - 2019

Our story begins freshman year of high school - the day of Freshman Orientation, to be exact. We went to different middle schools that enrolled into one high school, so this orientation was the first time students from each school would be meeting. We were separated into groups by last name and it just so happened that P and S were together. Taylor was the last one to walk into the room and, no surprise here, all of the seats were taken. But don't fret! Dalton was sure to jump on that opportunity to ask to share his chair with him. After spending the day together with Dalton flirting and Taylor trying to just awkwardly get by, the end of the day came and Dalton went for it and asked Taylor for her number. Anyone that knew Taylor back in the day knows she was the last of everyone to get a cell phone, so she just blurted out "I don't have a phone!" and ran off to go home (Mama Lisa will never hear the end of that, as Taylor blamed her first experience with a high school boy on her for not giving her a cell phone). Dalton admittedly thought high school was going to be full of getting dissed by girls and Taylor will always appreciate that she was responsible for that feeling :) As high school went on, we remained good friends and nothing came of our relationship until senior year when we were in class together and eventually, we were inseparable. Senior year of high school turned in to freshman year of college, which turned into five years of long distance (and Dalton getting very acquainted with the drive up to Clemson). We've had all the ups and downs of a long distance relationship, but the love between us has remained the same. Between eight different cities, internships, jobs, football and the business of life, we figured out that what made us the happiest in our lives was when we were together. After graduating, we both got jobs in Charleston, which is where we currently live and have the opportunity to plan our wedding!

The Proposal

January 2019

To date, January 19th of 2019 is the best day of our lives. Twice a year, Charleston has a 10-day event called Charleston Restaurant Week and whenever it's going on, we like to try a new place we haven't been to before. This year, we decided that we'd go for a nice date night and Taylor picked out three restaurants and told Dalton to surprise her with reservations at one of them. Little did she know, she was setting up her own proposal. Come date night, Dalton told Taylor he had plans during the day so he told her to be at his apartment by 5PM so they could "get an appetizer" from the cafe at Waterfront Park before their reservations. Knowing Dalton's love for food, this was not a surprising request in the slightest. When we got there, we came up on the cafe and it was mysteriously closed...so Dalton suggested we kill the time with a walk down the pier. Also not surprising as walking the pier is nothing new. So we head down the busy, BUSY pier and stop at the end to check out all the boats and the view itself. After a few minutes, Dalton grabbed Taylor's and said "Well baby, there's a different reason I brought you out here..." and got down on a knee. The rest is all a blur, until we heard camera clicking and a photographer stepping up to us, all thanks to Dalton and his planning! We took a few pictures to capture the memory and off to "dinner" we went. While FaceTiming Taylor's mom in the car, Dalton mentioned needing to stop by the apartment and we drove up to the most special surprise. Dalton had organized some of Taylor's best friends to come in for the night and surprise her for the day she'd been waiting so long for. The rest of the night was full of taking pictures, reminiscing and celebrating the love between the two of us. It was the most special, fun, unforgettable day of our lives thus far and we know it will be a day we will cherish forever. We cannot wait to start a new journey come February as husband and wife!
