Feeling more extreme? Here are some Josh recommended activities: Whitewater Rafting - Slaughterhouse:This river peaks in June and is a true Class IV experience. Not for the timid. Features some of the most technical boulder gardens in Colorado. Continuous paddling required and previous experience recommended. Aspen Whitewater Rafting. 520 E. Durant Ave. 970-920-3511 Hiking American Lake or Cathedral Lake: Two of Aspen’s most beautiful hikes are American Lake and Cathedral Lake. Not a trek for the faint of heart, both trails rise over 2,000 feet through Aspen groves, boulder fields and switchbacks for a 6 mile round trip adventure lasting 2-3 hours. Be sure to bring water, snacks, proper layers and a good pair of hiking shoes. Treat yourself to the stunning views and delectable cuisine at the nearby Pine Creek Cookhouse for lunch afterward and you will have completed a top 10 Aspen experience! 11399 Castle Creek Road. 970-925-1044
