Josh was in Los Angeles for a guys weekend with Jeff Carpenter and Blake Curtis when fate intervened. The guys planned a brunch at The Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica and Blake had invited one of Brittany's best friends Elizabeth to join. Not wanting to be the only gal, Elizabeth asked (a.k.a forced) Brittany to join her so that she would not be alone. When Brittany and Elizabeth arrived it was...not love at first sight. Brittany and Elizabeth were late and Josh thought Brittany could not be less interested in being at the brunch, let alone in him. But then they started talking. And they couldn't stop. Brittany had never met someone like Josh and was so intrigued by him and the way he carried himself and commanded the room. Josh had never met someone so beautiful and witty that he could banter back and forth with. They spent the majority of the day together and then Josh went back to Arizona and Brittany stayed in California. But there love story was just beginning. After Josh left, they talked, texted, or facetimed every day and Josh booked his next trip to Los Angeles. Over two years and tens of thousands of airline miles later, they are so glad they said yes to brunch. And to each other. Two Type A people took a chance on a long distance relationship and it has changed their lives for the better. And now they (I mean us but why stop talking in third person now) cannot wait to celebrate their love with their closest friends and family.
(From Brittany’s POV) It all started with the Jeep. Josh couldn't contain his excitement over his new Jeep that he was taking to Aspen for the summer so that he could off-road, ride around town and live out his fantasy of becoming a mountain man. When Josh asked me if I wanted to learn how to off-road while in Aspen, my initial reaction was....no thanks. But then he said we would pack a picnic and make a day out of it and I was in. Little did I know what he really had in mind. The morning of June 29th, our jeep driver (and secret photographer), Steve, picked us up and Josh even had me sit in the front seat (probably so that his nerves didn't get the best of him). I talked Steve's ear off about jeep tours, Aspen and my general lack of interest in off-roading. When we reached the scenic outlook of Ajax mountain, Steve suggested we pull over so Josh and I could picnic. After a few minutes of picnicking, Josh went back to the Jeep to get a letter he had written to me. When he came back, he had me stand up and take off my sunglasses to read and in that moment I knew it wasn't any ordinary letter. After reading his beautiful words, Josh got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. All the while, Steve was snapping away pictures. And no, Josh has never seen "The Sound of Music", so he did not get why everyone kept referencing that after seeing our proposal photos.
