Our Story is far from conventional. Jason and I met - allegedly - on several occasions. Once, while taking phone calls on St. Patrick's Day. Once, while drinking bourbon under a train bridge. And once, while eating Vis Major pizza and being yelled at on a trail head. I don't remember these alleged meetings. What I do remember, is forming a fast friendship while planning a "fake Ragbrai" trip in Des Moines - Real Ragbrai was cancelled due to Covid. Jason and I, dubbed the young ones (which was not entirely true, I came to find out) were entrusted with booking an Airbnb for our stay in DM. Ultimately, Jason booked a huge house to act as home base for the Team Angry crew. We were (and still are) early risers and spent the mornings chatting, brewing coffee and making breakfast for a funny bunch of guys. We spent our days riding and our nights listening to old geezers talking about 'air conditioner filters'. At the end of the week, we headed our separate ways, and I went back to Hastings - where I was working at the time. The following weekend, after some convincing, consisted of a trip to Okoboji for the Tiki Ride. Jason had previously attended the ride and invited me to come along. We met at The Commons Hotel, which was on the bike trail and drank beer around the adjoining fireplace. We talked about anything and everything until about 3AM, then woke up the next day to do it again. I talk a lot, and Jason is a really good listener. We shared meals, drank beer and had a really great time. After our return to Omaha, I was slated to enter a busy season of event planning, and I wasn't quite sure how often I could visit. That did not stop Jason. He visited Hastings, picked-up dinners, and made sure that I took breaks throughout my chaotic days. Ultimately, he solidified his place in my life and my heart (super cheesy, but super true). When December rolled around, I chose to leave my job in Hastings and slowly move my things into Jason's new house in Benson. The rest is history. Thank you for being a part of our story, -Beth
