In the early 2000’s, Roy & Sierra connected on MySpace. Truth be told, neither can remember who added who first? It could have been Sierra, who is often known to be the social butterfly, or it could have been Roy who thought that any girl with a picture of her on the hood of her car would be a sweet addition to his top 8. This detail remains a mystery. For about 7 years, Roy remained in the friend zone and there was a “hi” here and there. They finally met in person in 2012, and later that year, Roy moved away to California for work. They kept in touch & tried to say hi in person whenever Roy made it to town. Some visits were quick – meeting on Sierra’s way to work for a quick hello & a hug or after a day on the slopes for Roy. Rumor has it that Sierra even tried to give the poor guy away once or twice to her friends & coworkers. Christmas 2018 would change things forever, mostly due to Roy’s inability to plan & his last minute “hey what are you up to this Saturday, want to hang out?” message to Sierra. With all the love & attitude in the world, Sierra’s response was, “Roy, what have I done every Saturday night since you’ve known me?” … "I work, so if you want to hang out, you can come tonight”. Soon, Roy headed on his way. Sierra fed Roy some half-cooked chicken (whoops!) and they had some drinks, hung out, and even tried to find Sierra's long lost car. At one point they thought they had found it, but the car is still MIA to this day, so who knows. The next day Roy went snowboarding, so Sierra sent him off at 6am with a water bottle & a Starbucks Frappuccino. At this time, it dawned on them that they might be a good fit for each other. Yes, after 15 years or so! After that, they saw each other more frequently. Sierra went on a work trip in Sacramento and met Roy. He was ready to take her on a nice 1st date after work, but instead of a nice dinner, Sierra wanted to see what the California taco trucks had to offer. Another time, Roy blazed a trail with red & blue lights behind him. Thankfully, the Nevada State Police officer was extremely efficient & didn’t take much time to send Roy on his way with a $200 speeding ticket. Later that same day, outside of Sierra’s subdivision, another kind officer was also eager to learn why Roy was in such a hurry. After explaining, the officer understood & let him go with a warning. In March, Sierra & Mila drove down to California to visit and she finally said yes to being his girlfriend. In May, the two met in Phoenix for an Estrada family wedding. Sometime around this time Sierra needed to know her next 37 moves & Roy attempted to deliver a timeline: •Vacation in Hawaii in October 2018 (This never happened, so guess where they are going on their honeymoon!?) •Engaged by News Years 2018 •Married by October 2019 They decided to move in together sooner. By June 2018, Sierra had been offered a job at Fresno State. Roy had been tasked with securing a home, & she had already found the perfect home for them. Roy didn't want to listen and viewed a second option, but the first one was it! Fast forward a few years and Roy was still trying to figure out how to propose. After holding on to the ring for 7 months, he finally figured it out one morning. It was a beautiful lake day & Roy had been attempting to learn to wake surf, so of course this is how he would do it – Never mind the risk of dropping the ring in the lake, this was the plan! He filled Mila in & she was excited. After getting on the lake, another boat broke down and the family joined them on their boat. Someone else was driving the boat, so Sierra was able to watch Roy. When Roy got down on one knee, everyone was confused. Sierra saw the floaty keyring that the boat keys were usually on & was like “what are you doing?!” before realizing that the keys were in the boat & there was something sparkly in his hand & he was down on one knee. She’s naturally blonde, so it took a moment for her to register. Everyone was shocked & surprised!
