Our love story

Winston and Sidney's journey began as high school classmates and friends. Life pulled them in different directions after graduation, and they lost touch for a short time. But fate had plans of its own. While Sidney was attending Utah Valley University in 2018, an unexpected message popped up on Twitter—from Winston. He asked her out on a date to Texas Roadhouse. But on the way, he got a flat tire and had to reschedule. Sidney figured that might be the end of it… but then Winston showed up for the second try with flowers in hand and a brand-new tire. That night went smoothly, full of conversation and laughter—and from that point on, the connection only grew stronger. They spent the next year driving back and forth between South Jordan and Ogden, making the most of every weekend and every mile. As both of their leases came to an end, they were faced with a big decision. Sidney made the leap—transferring to Weber State to be closer as Winston played football and continued school. They moved in together, balancing classes, work, football, and everything in between. In 2022, they graduated side-by-side from Weber State with their bachelor’s degrees. From there, life came at full speed. They moved out of Ogden, Sidney began her teaching career, and Winston continued chasing his football dreams while earning his master’s degree. In 2023, he signed with an agency to begin his NFL training. Early in 2024, Winston moved to California to prepare for the draft and his Pro Day at Weber State. They watched the entire NFL Draft together—hoping, waiting, dreaming. And when it ended, Winston signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. With little time to spare, he moved to Cleveland. Though they were apart again, they found every opportunity to see one another—vacations, pregame visits, and constant travel just to stay close. Eventually, Sidney resigned from her teaching position and joined Winston on this new chapter. She moved to Ohio in September, and they shared their first NFL season—one on the field, and one in the stands. After a long football season, they finally had time to slow down. They traveled and celebrated moments that mattered, including their 6-year anniversary in April. On a trip to Charleston and Folly Beach, Winston had something special planned: a private sail and intimate dinner. As they pulled up to a beach, he played their song and asked Sidney to dance. Her heart knew what was coming—especially when she felt the beat of his. Winston took a knee, and asked the question that would change everything. And Sidney said the easiest “yes” of her life. “It’s you. It’s always been you. It’ll always be you.”
