Our Story

"If it’s meant to be—it will be."

In 2019, Jasmine and her friends discussed going to the Legacy Conference in Chicago. Pascale told them: “People find love there—you’ll find your husband!” So, the planning began, and the trip was booked. *** Sidney stood in the lobby of Moody Bible Institute bouncing a basketball. Jasmine’s eyes landed on him. No one else had caught her attention until then. *** The final morning of the conference, Jasmine told Daniella that she wanted to find the guy she saw and talk to him. The girls headed to the main session and looked for two easily accessible seats and spotted them—right next to the guy. This was Jasmine's chance. *** After Jasmine introduced herself, the two spent the rest of the day together. A connection had seemingly been made. However, during the last session, Jon and Sidney left and were nowhere to be found. The conference ended and Jasmine and Sidney never exchanged contact information. Jasmine was devastated. Narcisse reassured her: If it’s meant to be, it will be. *** When Jon and Sidney returned to Louisville, they met and discussed all the had occurred. When they left the last session to get food, Sidney did not expect Jasmine to be gone when he returned. Sidney asked Jon if he could find her on social media so that he could talk to her again. *** While visiting Hailey in Michigan, Jasmine saw a friend request appear on her phone. It was from Jon. He sent her a message that read: “I had breakfast with Sidney this morning. I told him I found you on FB. He doesn’t have any social media. He suggested that I give you his number so you could keep in touch. Would you be interested?” She smiled and accepted. Jasmine texted Sidney and the whirlwind began. “It was an improbable romance. He was a country boy, she was from the city…. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common: They were crazy about each other." In September, Sidney and Jasmine traveled to Washington, D.C. for their first date. They planned a four day east coast tour from D.C. to Philadelphia to New York. During their first few hours together, the pair sat by the water in Georgetown and talked. It was then that they both knew—this was something. “They fell in love, didn’t they?” A few weeks after making their relationship official, Sidney headed to San Antonio, Texas for bootcamp. While he was there, Sidney and Jasmine were limited to writing each other letters. But they were committed to each other. Once he graduated, they navigated a new season of growing in love. In time, it became difficult for Sidney to balance his growing responsibilities in the Air Force while maintaining a relationship across the country. Although he loved her, Sidney believed that Jasmine could easily find someone else that could give her everything she wanted and decided to let her go. *** Jasmine spent the next few months in lock down trying to decide which law school to attend or if she should even go. After much prayer, Jasmine headed to Ohio. *** Months went by and the two continued to work on what they set out to do. But no matter how hard they tried, they could not get the other out of their heads. *** Sidney stared in disbelief when he saw a text message from Jasmine appear. He now had a chance to get her back. He asked her to meet him in Cincinnati. She agreed. After spending the day together, they decided to see where things went. There was clearly something there and they wanted to see it through. “She had come back into his life like a sudden flame, blazing and streaming into his heart.” In time, they rebuilt what they had even stronger. It was clear: they were meant to be. On August 4, 2023, Sidney asked Jasmine to marry him, and she said, “Yes.” “The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that’s what you’ve given me. That’s what I’d hoped to give to you forever." A prayer answered and a dream come true.
