One evening, Sidney was on the phone with her friend, explaining that she was officially done with dating apps. Her friend convinced her to check Hinge one last time, just to see if there was anything worth keeping the app for. To her surprise, there was one more like waiting for her. His name was Andrew. He was six feet tall, had brown hair and blue eyes, loved Duke basketball, and considered the mountains home. Sidney was immediately sold. She accepted his like and sent him a message, sharing that she loved the mountains too, as they reminded her of home back in Idaho. The two messaged back and forth for a few weeks, and Sidney started to grow impatient. So impatient, in fact, that she had her roommate type up a message asking Andrew out on a date. If you know Sidney, it took a lot for her to send that message… (even if her roommate typed it out) Thank goodness she did, because their first date lasted four hours. They talked like they had known each other forever, played arcade games, and laughed the entire time. Sidney was immediately drawn to Andrew’s kind smile, his laugh, and his ability to be just as competitive as she was. Andrew was drawn to Sidney’s knowledge of sports, her ability to truly listen and stay engaged in conversation, and her smile. After their first date, both Sidney and Andrew called their friends and family to share how well it had gone and that they could each see a future with the other. Just two days later, they had another date that lasted until 3 AM. That same morning, Sidney woke up a few hours later to drive Andrew to the airport to send him off on his pilgrimage trip to Mexico. Even while apart, they talked every day, both looking forward to seeing each other again after their trips. They would talk on the phone for hours, just getting to know each other. When Andrew returned from Mexico, he asked Sidney to be his girlfriend on June 4th, 2025. Since then, they’ve played countless rounds of Wordle and Connections, watched a little too much Star Wars, attended many Duke basketball games, and—most importantly—shared so much love.
