George was visiting his parents in Los Angeles from New York and decided to take a day trip with them down to Palm Springs. At that time Michelle was living in Palm Springs and both were looking to meet new friends as George was thinking about moving to the West coast and Michelle was fairly new to California. While waiting in line at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and with a little help of technology and swiping right at the perfect moment, a match was made. What started out as a casual conversation about camping, hiking, and cats led to a 3 day long first date which then turned into a 2,854 mile long distance relationship. George wined and dined Michelle with all of her favorites sushi, pizza, shake shack, and bagels. She knew he was the one when he brought her a fresh Everything bagel from New York. Shortly after George made the leap and moved to San Diego and Michelle followed...
Up until the very moment I had no clue. Weeks prior, George and I had discussed site seeing some local spots that we had not been to since moving to San Diego. One of which was the Lily Pond at Balboa Park. George stressed that we get there early since it gets crowded and we would still be able to make most of the day afterwards. Well, we ended up sleeping in the morning of and George played it cool by saying "we don't have to go anymore, lets just go shopping at the mall". I proceeded to question why he made a big deal of going to Balboa Park the night before, but was now completely indifferent. So off we went to Balboa Park. When we arrived at the Lily Pond George set up a tripod for our phones. He told me that he had bought the tripod for our trip to New Orleans, which we never ended using once during that trip. There were groups of visitors taking pictures so he asked me to use my phone and get the camera angle set up while he posed for the picture. After I finished setting up my phone he walked over and told me to take his place. That's when he slyly changed the camera from picture mode to video mode and began recording us. Take one, George walked back towards me slightly nervous, I later found out it was because he couldn't get the ring out of the pouch in his pocket. He gave me an excuse as he walked over to my phone to get the ring in position. Take two, he gave me a kiss on the cheek as I continued looking at the camera unknowingly, I turned to look at him and that's when I saw he was down on one knee. #isaidyes #uglycryface
