The town of Singapore, Michigan, is a real ghost town near Saugatuck that was buried by sand dunes. Once a thriving lumber town, its downfall began when the surrounding forests were cleared for logging, which left the area vulnerable to shifting sands from Lake Michigan. Over time, the sand dunes completely covered the settlement, leading to the legend of "Michigan's Pompeii"
For the artsy folk The studio & gallery is housed in a historic building that was once the Post Office of Saugatuck, Michigan. James Brandess was born in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 1989. Of His work, Brandess Says, "I paint from observation. My paintings reflect the harmony that surrounds me." Currently Brandess maintains his studio in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Felt in the 1920s, featuring European-style architecture on Lake Michigan's shore with grounds including a carriage house, chapel, and gardens, known for its beauty, history, and preservation efforts.
