We met during our Junior year of high school, and ever since then our lives have never been the same. We met during 6th hour English class and I think it is safe to say we are super thankful to have been put in the same book club group. I remember him playing games on his phone when we were supposed to be reading, and I think it was honestly me busting him that sparked his interest in me. He needed help catching up in English, and I needed help in chemistry. Through many baseball and football games, and more volleyball tournaments than we can count, our high school years soon turned into college years. We fell in love over breakfast a million times or so, through endless cups of coffee, traveling to new places together, and exploring what it means to grow up. Each day we reflect on how amazed we are that our paths crossed, and how blessed we are to get to experience all of what life entails, together. We fell in love while reading a book we were forced into reading, but now our whole life together is playing out as a fairytale that we will never stop dreaming about.
Brett is one of the smartest people I know, and when I say he struggles at keeping secrets, I mean it. I am honestly surprised he managed to be so sly about the proposal, but that was probably from a mix of help from his sister, a couple of my coworkers being in on it, and a whole lot of luck. I was coming off a 3 night stretch from work, and Brett and I decided to celebrate with breakfast after my 3 days were up to celebrate his birthday that was 2 days before. The night before, while I was at work, I get a call from Brett saying "DID YOU KNOW CHLOE WAS COMING INTO TOWN TO SUPRISE US?" And to my dismay, I was so sad I was not there to spend every moment I could with her. Bummed I was at work, the night dragged. The next morning I hurry home to shower, get dressed, and begin our adventure to breakfast and to "see the trees change with sister" was off! After a mimosa, a great breakfast, and oh, a mimosa, the sleep was calling my name. Being completely oblivious to the fact Brett was carrying a fanny-pack, and was acting considerably different, our little journey in Golden Gate Canyon State Park was off to a great start. We were trying to find the best overlook to get good pictures at, and when I turned around after what I thought was a good chance for me to take some cool pictures of the trees, and after a little debacle about Brett touching my camera (he didn't but I sure thought he messed something up with it just prior to this day) I turned around to find him down, on one knee. Chloe, being the best sister, and best friend I could ask for, caught the whole thing on video, and that day will forever be one of the best memories I will ever have. Not only did it show that Brett could indeed plan something, and manage to surprise me, he asked me to be his forever partner in crime, in sickness, and in health, as well as all the other good and bad times, you know the saying. Either way, that wasn't the start of our journey, but it sure was a special moment. -Future Mrs.
Brett and I love the outdoors. We love being out around the campfire with some good music and even better company. Our wedding is going to be so special because we will have some of the most important people in our lives around us on one of the most important days of our lives. Please bring layers, for it is Colorado and the seasons can change on a dime. Bring your smore sticks, and any beverages you want to drink around the camp fire. There will be beer, wine, and limited his and her cocktails, but if you want anything specific, bring a koozie and a smile for it is going to be a great time. There will be water and lemonade, and some hot beverages as well. Please remember to drive safely! The road to the venue is a dirt road with limited lighting, so keep that in mind for your arrival and departure. Please bring bug spray, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Think of this as a day at camp, but in your nice clothes, and remember that it is still the mountains, and heels are not recommended. As well as, we are so excited to see all of you. We do have limited amount of space for our family and wedding party, so not everyone will be able to stay at the venue the night of the wedding. Brett and I have been in contact with our family members that we have invited to stay the evening with us. In the invitations that we will be sending out in a few months, we will be giving definite information on the night of. If anyone has questions, please do not hesitate to give us a ring. That being said, if you absolutely need a place to stay that night, get in contact with us so we can see what we can work out to make sure everyone is safe, happy, and apart of our special day. We can not wait to see you all and to celebrate our love with you. Thank you all for supporting us and loving us as much as you do. Cheers, Shy and Brett
