Belle Isle Park

Belle Isle is the newest of Michigan’s State Parks, recently accepted from the City of Detroit for State supervision / maintenance & care. Located at Detroit, MI in the Detroit River at the southern tip of Lake St Clair opposite Windsor, Ontario, visitors may watch passenger boats and ocean freighters pass within a few hundred feet of shore. The park has almost 1,000 acres to enjoy: a Nature Zoo, Driving Range, Golf course, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, music pavilion, the Nancy Brown Peace music carillon, quiet lagoons for kayaking / canoeing, the beautiful Scott fountain, the Dossin Great Lakes Maritime Museum, the Remick band shell, an aquarium, the only lighthouse in Michigan made of limestone, hiking & bicycle paths, a swimming beach on the Detroit river, many picnic pavilions, a water slide, acres of grass to relax, planned weekend activities, spectacular views of Detroit & Windsor and two long fishing piers.
