We met at some point in 2014 at the Golden Nugget in Simi Valley. And then at least once a week for the next two years. No, we don't know the exact moment we met. Any one could have introduced us, Mike could have made a beer recommendation, a happy Shona will very willingly introduce herself. If you were at the Golden Nugget in 2014 and you remember when we met, feel free to let us know. We would love to hear the story. In May of 2016 at a mutual friends party, there was a moment. And then a kiss. And two weeks later, a first date. Mike insisted on doing all of the planning and driving, and kept all of those plans a surprise until the moment that we got to the restaurant. All you can eat Korean BBQ. Because the best way to find out if you are meant to be is to test your potential partner with an enormous amount of potentially strange food. And then prepare it together. As far as Shona was concerned, this was the best first date ever. According to Mike, he knew there would be at least a second date before the first plate of meat was finished. Three years, a new apartment, a kitten, and a lot of beer after that first kiss, Mike insisted that we go re-do our first vacation together. The level of insistence made Shona very suspicious, only pack picture worthy outfit suspicious, actually do her make up suspicious. She was right to be suspicious, because on that first day of vacation, Mike proposed! He waited long enough for us to get to Cayucos, and then we got engaged overlooking our favorite beach, in our favorite town, all by ourselves. We are so excited to share the start of this next chapter of our story with all of you. Your love and joy and support has brought us to this point together, and now it is time to celebrate!
