Like many great love stories these days, Katie and Matt met online. Their relationship has been anything but conventional. From dog watcher to roommate to fiancée, somewhere along the way — things just clicked. We’re here today because of Katie. She was patient with Matt and always believed in us. What began as casual drinks turned into something real. Over the past three years, we’ve shared plenty of laughter, loyalty, and memories made while traveling all over the country. Whether we were off or on, we always found our way back to each other. Neither of us would be where we are today without the love and support of our families. Whether we’re celebrating holidays, major milestones, or birthdays, we’ve been able to blend our traditions. From the very beginning, our families have been nothing but accepting, and for that, we are deeply grateful. This August, we make it official — surrounded by all the people who mean the most to us. After a long and eagerly anticipated wait, Matt finally popped the question. In order to keep the proposal a surprise, he endured several “fake” fights, adding to the suspense. On February 28, 2025, the wait was finally over. With the help of Philip Poulsen, Matt picked up the perfect ring while they visited Dallas, TX. The process of traveling with it, however, was nerve-wracking for Matt— he was constantly worried a TSA agent would expose the ring and essentially propose to Katie. Once the ring safely made it back to Kansas City, it didn’t take long for Matt to make his move. That Friday, Katie went to dinner with her sister. Ironically, the conversation that evening included some frustration about how Matt seemed to be dragging his feet. But when she came home, everything changed. As Katie walked through the door, Matt played a special song — although she yelled at him for having the volume too loud! The house was glowing with candlelight, and on the kitchen table sat the ring, surrounded by beautiful flowers. Without hesitation, Katie said yes. The moment was perfect, and soon after, the couple joyfully shared the exciting news with family and friends.
