We met during our first year of law school and quickly became close friends. Between our shared classes and studying (LOTS OF STUDYING), we came to realize that we had something special. Law school moved by quickly, and soon enough Patrick and Emma were preparing for graduation. After which, they would move in together and begin working as attorneys. However, before starting work, they needed to pass the most important test - the bar exam. As some background, Patrick had asked Emma, time and time again for a puppy. He insisted that it was a “good decision.” Emma, having a soft spot for dogs, especially German Shepherds, finally acquiesced, and that’s how Atlas joined our family of 3 (including Patrick’s adopted Cat, Piper, who received her J.D. with us). While your results may vary, Atlas only strengthened the bond between Emma and Patrick, as they navigated raising an animal more similar to a velociraptor than any canine in existence. While raising Atlas, Emma and Patrick both passed the bar exam and began working, and while they enjoyed it, they always talked about moving up to the D.C. area. Finally, in July of 2025, Patrick and Emma were able to fulfill their goal of moving. While Emma currently works as an attorney in Tysons, VA; Patrick is receiving his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown (much to Emma’s chagrin, as she insists on having the most degrees)! The two of them love trying new restaurants, exploring museums, and finding new places to walk Atlas. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with the people we love most.
