One of the most popular restaurants in the area and the reason we fell in love with Peurto Rican food. Upscale restaurant with a homey feel. Reservation recommended.
Mexican sports bar with a huge patio. It is very close to the Courtyard Isla Verde beach resort (about a 12 minute walk). Perfect spot for vegetarians and has a mix of Mexican and Peurto Rican food.
One of our favorite restaurants of all time. We've heard Bad Bunny loves it too! A bit more upscale dining, Reservation recommended.
Vibey bar with great cocktails. Go here for pre or post dinner drinks!
The most highly recommended bar to us while in Puerto Rico! 6 stories and located in Old San Juan.
Cute coffee shop in Old San Juan. Start your day here before walking and exploring the colorful streets of OSJ.
Authentic Puerto Rican food, a bit more casual dining. Doesn't take reservations but we have heard its worth the wait!
If you plan on taking a trip to Farjardo, this is a must stop place to eat on your way back. Amazing BBQ and loved by locals. Come hungry!
A great activity to do in Old San Juan. This is an 18th century Spanish fortress famous for its defense tunnels, and ocean and city views. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance. National park pass gives you free entrance also.
If you rent a car and thinking of heading to a beach away from tourists, this is a great spot with beautiful white sand and blue water. You can find a short walking path to take you to a totally secluded beach called Playa Colora. Local food stands and parking both accessible.
National Rainforest on the island... which is really cool. You will need to obtain tickets before because only so many cars are allowed in at a time. Bring a rain jacket! We did a short hike, jumped in some waterfalls, and drove around to some cool look-out towers. There are also many tours (like Viator) that offer entrance and guided tours.
This is a small island that will require almost a full day to enjoy... but if you have the time its absolutely worth it. Ferry tickets will need to be purchased ahead of time which will take you from Ceiba to Calubra island (about 1 hour each way). This island has Flamenco beach which is often rated the most beutiful beach in the world...and we couldn't agree more. It's truly breathtaking. Great food and drinks are also served at the beach. We purchased a tour through Viator which included ferry tickets and a snorkel guide to an area with Sea Turtles! Reach out if you want any more information on this day trip :) People often rent golf carts on the island to explore on their own also.
