Question

What is a Sangeet?

Answer

A pre-wedding celebration in Indian weddings; typically a night of music, dance, and entertainment held before the main wedding to kick off a great celebratory weekend. It's a joyful occasion where family and friends gather and traditionally represents the union of two families. Typically a festive atmosphere with bright colors to fit the theme of the party!

Question

What to wear to the Sangeet?

Answer

You absolutely don't need to wear traditional Indian clothing- but we know these outfits are beautiful and fun to wear so feel free to dress up for the occasion! Reach out to Shiv or Katrina if you want recommendations on where to buy clothing. The groom's family has a closet full of clothing to borrow also! Here is one website to browse - Kalki Fashion: https://www.kalkifashion.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorLu2kZ5Ldta9txIcO0arkMPT0XjflJ2AbW2q5QgMIntHKKWSVV. A sundress, jump suit, or rehearsal style dress shirt is also perfectly fine! Indian jewelry and accessories will also be at the event to wear if you want, and take home with you.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Nope! Puerto Rico is a US territory so it's just like flying to any state in America. English is a common language spoken in Puerto Rico, and driving is also super easy as signs are in English and Spanish.

Question

Where is the venue?

Answer

Hacienda Siesta Alegre is our amazing wedding venue located in Rio Grande: About 25 mins away from San Juan, tucked away down some winding roads in the beautiful El Yunque Rainforest. It has views of the national rainforest and lots of nature like wildlife; we can't wait for you to party with us here! We will be hiring shuttle services. Parking is also available and free for guests.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Since this is a destination wedding, we completely understand wanting to make this trip into a mini family vacay! We wouldn't want any of our guests to have to skip out on our wedding due to child care needs, so yes you can bring along your little ones. However, if you do plan on bringing children to the wedding venue, please reach out to Katrina or Shiv- A waiver will need to be signed which is required by Hacienda Siesta Alegre. The venue is naturally not the most kid friendly because of the location, but please reach out to us and we will provide you with as much information as we can so you can decide and plan accordingly :)

Question

Will there be an after party?

Answer

After the reception, buses will drop us back off at the Courtyard Isla Verde Resort. The hotel bar is open until 2am so we can keep the party going here or the bride and groom's suite!

Question

Will Taylor Swift be playing at the wedding?

Answer

Have you met the bride?

For all the days along the way
