COVID-19 Update

Dear guests, We are so excited for you to join us in celebration of our wedding vows - whether near or far. Given the current state of the world, we are asking all our in person guests to wear a mask when they are not eating or drinking. This small inconvenience will help us fulfill the Governor’s mandates and, most importantly, help keep everyone in attendance safe. Additionally, weather permitting, the wedding ceremony and parts of cocktail hour may be held outside for additional safety. Please come prepared for the possibility of outdoor seating. For those choosing to attend virtually, please use this link to join the Zoom of our wedding. https://lehigh.zoom.us/j/94706990644 With love, Jen and Nate

How We Met

August 10, 2017 - The Oop

One day during preseason volleyball practices, two of Jen's players decided to go and throw their teacher, Mr. Shirk, an oop (like an alley-oop in basketball). They asked him to come into the gym to meet their coach, Coach Cook. Nate claims introducing himself to Jen was on his "to-do" list for that school year, but Jen’s players decided to attempt to get that ball rolling a little faster than Nate originally planned. The girls LOVED watching us meet for the first time, and were unfocused for the entire rest of the day at preseason.

Perfect Timing

August - September 2017

Almost everyday after that, Nate just so happened to be walking out of the high school building at the exact time that Jen was showing up to coach volleyball practice. Sometimes they would exchange waves from the parking lot or a brief conversation about their days or shared students/players. Jen thought this was just coincidence and the time he needed to leave work everyday. She later learned that Nate chose to leave at that exact time everyday just to see her.

The First Date

September 20, 2017

After many hallway conversations, Nate finally asked Jen out to coffee. Little did Nate know that Jen doesn't drink coffee. Jen has never been smart or quick with responses, so she replied, "I don't drink coffee, but we can still go and I'll drink water with lemon!" Chuckling, Nate asked for her cell phone number, so he could set something up. About two weeks later, Nate decided on a little more than just coffee. He prepared a salmon dinner at his house in Harrisburg, that was so delicious. Jen was only a bit worried he was too healthy for her when he served the salad without any dressing choices...

Too Many Dates to Count

October 2017 - February 2019

Nate and Jen began spending more and more time together as the months passed. Some of their favorite dates include Hersheypark, trips to NYC and Pittsburgh, the Nutcracker ballet, dinner dates at restaurants, movie nights at home, an adventure to Harry Potter World at Universal in Orlando, FL, and so much more. Weekends were spent driving back and forth from Harrisburg, where Nate lived, to Palmyra, where Jen lived.

Roommates

February 2, 2019

After a lot of thought and the creation of a pros and cons list, Jen decided to welcome Nate into her townhouse home in Palmyra, PA. So far, Nate has proven to be a worthy candidate for a roommate - he keeps things tidy, makes the bed, always puts the seat down, and is an EXCELLENT cook (which is perfect because cooking is NOT one of Jen's strengths - good thing she's about to change her last name).

Engagement Day

December 24, 2019

It had always been Jen and Nate's tradition to exchange one gift with one another on Christmas Eve. This year, they had agreed upon a medium sized gift - not the best gift they had picked out, but not the silly gag gift either. Jen thought she made a great pick when she decided to give Nate his new PS4 controller in midnight blue like he requested. Little did she know, the gift Nate had planned to give her was MUCH bigger (and better) than a PS4 controller. Nate came up from the basement with a ring box in his hand, and asked Jen if she would marry him. She of course said yes, excitedly, as he slipped the perfectly sized ring on her finger. Jen later found out, Nate had had dinner with her mom, dad, and sister to ensure their seal of approval over the engagement. They kept a great secret because Jen had no idea it was coming!
