We're Eloping!

In light of the concerns regarding COVID-19 and travel, large crowds, etc, we have made the difficult decision to elope privately on our original wedding date of June 6th, 2020. We will plan a reception for a later date when it's safe to travel. Our other options were to put the wedding on hold indefinitely, or cut our guest list way down. We decided that the first option doesn't work for us because our first priority is not to have a specific idea of wedding, but to be married and the uncertainty of when that would happen was too much. The second option would have meant having to choose which of you wonderful humans we could live without including, as well as the possibility that those who live out of state would be unable to travel, and since that includes all of Jake's family, that was also not an option that works for us. We hope that you will join us virtually (see our FAQ page for how that will work) and at a reception in real life when we can have one!

Jake and I met on Tinder in September 2016. We had both nearly given up on meeting anyone there when we came across each other's profiles and matched! I liked Jake's smile and humor in his profile and sent him a message, hoping he would reply but not holding my breath. When he did respond, we discovered a shared interest in nerd culture, including Doctor Who, Parks and Rec, Star Wars, and Marvel. Our first date happened a couple of weeks after our first conversation. Jake made us dinner and I introduced him to my favorite show, Firefly. He shared music videos from Mars Volta, his favorite band. We have spent our relationship trading off in sharing our pop culture loves. Jake introduced me to Bob's Burgers; I showed him The Good Place. We have since added The Umbrella Academy, Adventure Time, Schitt's Creek, and His Dark Materials to our must-watch TV. We adopted two kitties together, Dora and Cody, shortly after we started dating, and they continue to bring us joy (and cat hair). In June of 2018, we added a baby girl to our family, and she has infused our lives with so many smiles and so much laughter, that it's hard to remember a time when she wasn't with us. We are so excited to take our relationship to the next level and to have you all there to celebrate with us!
