On a cold winter evening 5 years ago, we both received an invitation for a “meet and greet” from Robert’s brother Dewayne, and his wife Jamie Price. Dewayne invited Robert and Jamie invited Shimiya. Robert decided to stop by after asking Dewayne “how she look”? Shimiya decided to attend after Jamie shared, “ He’s your type he’s chocolate” and our daughter Azaria forcibly said “Mom go and meet him” as Shimiya attempted to back out of attending repeatedly. The Price’s “hook up” evolved into a mutual friendship of long discussions, everyday conversations, and sharing of life experiences. Our friendship began and evolved into what we both define as the love of our lives later in life. We met through family and friends but had no idea that 5 years later we’d find ourselves head over heels in love with each other. The stars aligned for Robert and Shimiya when they noticed they both loved family, shared values, and actually shared the same eating habits! Our first date was an evening of dinner, games and conversation atop Ponce City Market in Downtown Atlanta. This was a warm magical summer evening that felt like decades of familiarity. For years, countless jokes, Shimiya humorously spoke of how Robert would get down on one knee and propose—as Robert adamantly said he no one knee nuptial proposals. Time progressed and we grew closer and more supportive through good and challenging ordeals as months and years passed. After years of dating his best friend, on September 10th, 2022, during Shimiya’s surprise birthday party, Robert made a surprise proposal on a bended knee. One of the most intimate memories we have both shared thus far in our relationship was witnessed amongst our family and friends as we openly illustrated what we meant to each other. We're both so grateful to you, our community, for your love and support as we formally cement our intimate love for each other in matrimony. We can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you soon!
