Malpensa Airport (MXP)

Make sure to book a flight through Malpensa Airport (MXP) in Milan! There are a few other airports, but this is the largest and most accessible to public transportation throughout the city.

Recommendation for the weekend before the wedding accommodations! For the weekend events prior to the wedding, the bride and groom will be staying at Hotel Belvedere in Bellagio, Lake Como. The dates we will be staying here 7/9-7/11. We recommend staying at here if you would like to be near the bride and groom.

Recommendations for weekend before the wedding accomodations! Another hotel we recommend staying at for a more budget friendly option is Hotel Du Lac! It is right by the water, close to the ferry in Bellagio, and has an incredible rooftop!

Recommendations for the weekend before the wedding accomocations! We recommend looking into Airbnbs available in Bellagio for the weekend of July 9-11! When we have traveled through Italy this was our favorite way to experience living like a local! Most Airbnbs are within walking distance of all main attractions in Bellagio!

Recommendation for rehearsal night and wedding night accommodations! We highly recommend guests look into staying at Villa Teodelinda. This villa is directly next to Villa Vittoria and is within walking distance! You can book a room by enquiring through the Villa's website or on any discount hotel website!

Airbnb in Laglio

Recommendations for rehearsal night and wedding night accommodations! We recommend looking into Airbnbs available in Laglio for July 12th! When we have traveled through Italy this was our favorite way to experience living like a local! Most Airbnbs are close to the villa and within walking distance in the town of Laglio.

Train

Train from the airport to Como

Once you have arrived at the airport, find the Malpensa Express airport train (it is in the downstairs transportation section of the airport). Take the train from Malpensa to Saronno (18 minutes). Then change trains at Saronno Station to go towards Como Lago station (Do not take the train to Como Bolgni there are no taxis or transportation options from this station! Michael and I made this mistake when we were there in March :0). From there you can get a taxi to take you to your hotel or organize a car pickup with your hotel. You can buy your train tickets at the station or on the trenord app!

Getting to Bellagio by train and hydrofoil

From Varenna to Bellagio, exit the train station and either take a taxi to the boat landing stage (approx. cost €10) or turn left and walk down the numerous steps to the road at the bottom. To avoid steps you can follow the normal road. Turn right until you come to a crossroads (there’s a bar on the right hand corner). Turn left and cross the road – you are now on the main road. Take the immediate right hand turning and walk down towards the lake. At the bottom, turn left and you’ll see the boat ticket office on the right. It will take max 15 min. on foot. There is a choice of either boats or car ferries from Varenna to Bellagio – both are 15 minute crossings and the only difference is the different point of arrival in Bellagio. Frequency: approx. every hour Journey time: 15 minutes - Cost of ticket: € 4,60 per person

Getting to Laglio by Train

“Malpensa Express” is a train leaving from Malpensa Terminal 1 (below the Ground Floor / Arrivals area) to Milano Cadorna. Purchase your ticket to Como Lago. Frequency: approximately every 30 minutes Journey time from Malpensa to Saronno: 17 minutes. Cost of ticket: € 10.80 per person Step 2 – Saronno- Milano Cadorna / Como Change trains at SARONNO or MILANO CADORNA Frequency: Connecting trains to Como every hour Journey time from Saronno to Como: 39 minutes Step 3- Como train station to Laglio Hire a car transportation through your hotel or grab a taxi at the train station to transport you to the hotel/villa you are staying at!

Buses depart just outside the train station. Use the exit toward the lakeside and you find the bus stop at your left. Tickets from the bus station ticket office. Frequency: approximately every two hours Journey time to Bellagio: 1 hour and 10 minutes Cost of ticket: € 3,70

There are ferries and hydrofoils (faster and bigger boats) that take you around various cities on Lake Como. Use the link above to find the timetable for all of the ferries and hydrofoils running in Lake Como. Ticket prices vary depending on if you are purchasing a one way ticket or an all day ticket. Make sure to change the language on the website to English!
