Travel Note
Dear Friends and Family, As you prepare for travel, we want to share an important update regarding current airport conditions across the United States. Due to ongoing federal funding issues affecting the Transportation Security Administration, airports nationwide are experiencing longer-than-usual security wait times. In some cases, travelers have reported delays of up to several hours, which has resulted in missed flights. To help ensure smooth travel, we recommend the following: Plan Ahead for Security Delays ● Arrive at the airport at least 3–4 hours before your flight ● Be prepared for longer lines, even at smaller airports ● Note that TSA’s official website and app may not be fully up to date at this time How to Check Wait Times ● Check your departure airport’s official website (this is the most reliable source) ● Monitor your airline’s app or website for real-time updates ● Use flight tracking tools (such as FlightAware) to check delays Bring Proper Identification ● Ensure you have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or a valid passport ● Other acceptable IDs include passports, Global Entry cards, and certain federal IDs ● Travelers without proper ID may face additional screening and delays Prepare for Screening ● Pack liquids and electronics according to TSA guidelines ● Allow extra time for both standard and TSA PreCheck lines, as availability may vary Interaction with Federal Officers ● Federal officers (including TSA and other agencies) may be present in airports ● If approached: ○ Remain calm and respectful ○ You may be asked for identification or travel documents ○ U.S. citizens are generally not required to answer questions beyond identifying themselves in most situations ○ If you are unsure, you may politely ask, “Am I free to go?” We recommend building in extra time and flexibility when traveling to ensure you arrive safely and without stress. We are so excited to celebrate with you and appreciate you taking these extra precautions.
