We're so thankful for the Lord's leading in our relationship through loving family and friends. We first met in December 2019, when Josh was the guest speaker at Dallas Chinese Bible Church's (DCBC) youth winter retreat. After the retreat, we both joined the retreat leaders for dinner and ended up sitting next to each other =) We were later formally introduced by DCBC's youth pastors, Clement and Angel. A week before Texas went into shelter-in-place in March 2020, Josh moved from New York to Dallas. We are amazed at God's timing, because if Josh had decided to move any later, he probably would not have moved down that year at all. When shelter-in-place in Texas lifted in May, we went on our first date as a local couple to the park next to Sherry's house, because we weren't comfortable eating at restaurants. And in the summer, when Texas was too hot to eat outside, we spent a lot of our dates eating Taiwanese takeout in the car =P Looking back on our COVID dating life, we are so thankful to our family for their support during the unknowns of COVID. On Thanksgiving Day 2020, eleven months after we first met, Josh proposed at the park near Sherry's sister's house. And Sherry said "Yes"! We can't wait to celebrate with you! Due to COVID, many of you may not have met the other person, so here's a little more about us: Sherry: I'm a Texas girl! Born and raised in Dallas, I went to college in Austin, TX and later came back to Dallas for seminary. I've been the Children's Minister at DCBC since 2012, and am so thankful for the privilege of serving with my beloved church family ever since. Joshua: God has moved me from place to place as He saw fit, whether it was with my family (Arizona/Singapore), for college and grad school (LA/Tucson), for seminary (DFW), or ministry (Ohio/NYC). Currently serving as DCBC's English College/YA Pastor, I love hosting and cooking and hope to break bread with all of Sherry's friends and family in the near future.
