If we’re being honest- we met on Tinder. After messaging for a week or two, our first date was January 12, 2022 at Brewfontaine. It didn’t feel like a typical awkward first date where you have to excessively sip your drink to fill the awkward silence or figure out what to say. It felt natural- like we had known each other forever even though all we knew about each other was what we told in those couple hours that flew by like a few minutes. The date ended with a kiss outside that truly felt like one out of a movie with the cinematic emphasis on that feeling of sparks- which we didn’t know was a real thing until then.
We went to Newport Aquarium and both of us were so excited! I was excited because I have never been. Hunter seemed a little overly excited- I had no idea he liked fish that much… Turns out he doesn’t! I questioned why he was abnormally adamant about looking nice to go look at some fish but I wasn’t complaining about him opting for khaki shorts over athletic shorts. On the way down we stopped at his parents house to drop Luna off so they could watch her. Hunter had to help his mom get a dog crate and it turns out he was also grabbing the ring. Fast forward to the aquarium- just as my suspicions went away and we get all the way through after having a great time, he stops me after we get outside. As we are overlooking the Ohio River, he gives me a hug and a kiss and gets down on one knee. He says a song was playing that made it seem like the perfect moment, but neither of us remember what song it was. It took him a minute to get the words out but I quickly said “YES!” and we were both happy crying. The weeks that followed brought struggles that only brought us closer and now we are ready for forever together to journey through life as lovers and best friends.
