Rental Car
GreenMobility is an app that allows you to rent gas / electric cars all over the city, very much like Citi Bikes in New York. Download the GreenMobility App and register with a license and credit card and you can rent their cars straight off the street, unlocking the car with your phone. The cars' availability is shown on the app and prices run per minute, or you can opt for hour/day packages which are visible in the app. Gasoline, parking and charging are free for these cars.
Rental Car
Car rentals companies like AVIS, HERTZ, SIXT and EUROPCAR all have offices in Copenhagen Airport and close to the city center. If you plan on staying in Copenhagen only, renting a car is not necessary as the metro and bus systems will get you where you need to go. Copenhagen is also a very walking friendly city!
Travel Note
Bus and Metro System: Tickets are combined and valid for 2 hours for both systems when buying a normal 2-Zone ticket at the machine (2 zones are the normal minimum and will take you around all areas in the center of Copenhagen). The ticket also covers the yellow harbor boats, which takes you on routes along the harbor to The Opera House and street food area at Halvandet for example. A metro ticket from the airport is 3 zones and takes you directly and smoothly to the center in 15 minutes. Taxis are available off the street and run by meter, or you can download one company's app and book through that. The app is called Taxa 4 x 35. Bike Rentals are available from hotels and independent companies. Everyone in Copenhagen bikes, and a lot of people bike fast, so be aware of your surroundings! Boat rentals are available through GoBoat and Friendships through locations near the city center, these runs by hour and are all electric. Kayak for free in the harbor with GreenKayak by collecting trash along the way and fight against ocean pollution! Other options are available if you just want to kayak, such as Kayak Republic.
