This author has it on the highest authority that we shall begin this season with a celebration! Mr. Craig Shepard is to wed this season’s diamond, Miss Susan Mullen. Whispers of this match have already reached every fashionable corner of the Ton, and quite a few dusty ones in the countryside as well. One can only expect elegance, splendor, and perhaps a touch of wicked delight when dreaming of these forthcoming nuptials. It is said the couple has decided not to host their wedding in the heart of the city, but rather an enchanting country wedding was more to their liking. They have secured the glamorous Saint John Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton for their ceremony, with Harrington Farm just a few miles away for their reception. While the privacy and seclusion of such a venue might lend an air of mystery, this author finds the origin of their flame even more intriguing. They met not at a ball, but during a time of great seclusion when the world’s doors were bolted shut. Their first encounter was a private feast prepared by Miss Susan's own hand. Six seasons have passed since that first evening and since their debut, they are frequently spotted together on the tennis court, lost in the wilds of a mountain path, or buried between the pages of their favorite books, sharing tales of grand, far away adventures. Their devotion is bound to make even the most hardened cynic feel a bit of a sting. Whether for the splendour of the occasion or the ardour of the couple, this author can only conclude that this match shall keep the Ton delightfully occupied for years to come. And so, dear reader, it is high time that this love match begin their new chapter, and like many of the Ton, this author is eager to see just what shall unfold. Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown
