Her Story: I met Reed in badminton class at GMC. Our teams would play against one another, and I remember thinking that he was really funny and nice (even when my team won matches). Later in the semester, he asked if I was seeing anyone (I was), and after that we lost touch. The next semester came around, and I walked into my pre-calculus class (single and ready to mingle!). I saw him sitting there goofing off with his friends, and I decided to take a chance. The seat next to him was empty, so that's where I sat everyday, passing notes back and forth until he finally asked me to hang out outside of class. I said 'yes', and the rest is history. His Story: I first saw Shelly at GMC, in badminton class. She had a guy friend who was her teammate, but I always kept an eye on her. We would play against each other, my team always winning, and eventually we became friends. First thing I had to figure out was if she had a boyfriend, so I asked about her teammate, and learned that he was just a friend. Fast forward to the end of the semester, I worked up the courage to ask her out but I had to make sure she was single. She had a boyfriend at the time, and I thought I had missed out and just had to let her go. Next semester I had a pre-calculus class with a couple of my friends, they sat together and left me to another desk. She just so happened to walk in and sit down next to me. We would pass notes like a couple of dorks and flirt, until finally one day I asked her to hang out again. She was single this time, and the answer, lucky for me, was 'yes'.
Shelly has wanted to get married for probably 6 years now, but I always told her that we had to wait until after we graduated. Once that adventure was over, I knew it was time. I started thinking about the proposal, and had an idea. I thought it would be special to use my mom’s ring, and she said that would be more than okay. Now I had to think of how to do it, I wanted it to be special so I knew a trip had to happen. I had planned to ask her in Chicago while visiting her mom, but COVID-19 didn’t do us any favors, and we had to cancel our trip. Thankfully, we managed to sneak down to Savannah. My whole family knew it was going to happen, and my sister-in-law, Katie, volunteered to take pictures. The day came and I was a little nervous because I could not think of where to hide the ring, so I carried a rain jacket on a sunny, 90 degree day. I asked Shelly to put my jacket up as I tied my shoe. She walked away to set her purse down, and me being the amazing romantic I am, knew it was the perfect time. I grabbed her hand and pulled so she would have to turn around and look at me. I held the box up, and popped the question. She started crying but just before it got bad she was able to mutter, 'Yes'. We are thrilled to be sharing this special day with you! We hope to see you there! Love, Shelly, Reed & Korver
