Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Shelly Marc and John Todd
📍 Our Guide to the City Welcome to our favorite corners of the DMV! These aren't just great spots to visit; they’re the landmarks of our life together. 🚨 A Note for Our Guests: Howard Homecoming Weekend We are so excited to celebrate with you! Please be aware that our wedding weekend coincides with Howard University’s Homecoming, which is also John’s Alma mater! This is one of DC’s biggest and most vibrant annual traditions, and the city will be much busier than usual. Because the festivities center around the nearby Shaw and U Street neighborhoods, we strongly recommend: Booking your travel and accommodations as soon as possible. Making dinner or brunch reservations well in advance (we suggest 3–4 weeks out). Allowing extra travel time for Ubers and Lyfts, as traffic around the hotels and venue will be heavier than a typical weekend.

Swingers

1330 19th St NW, Washington, DC

The Vibe: A high-energy, indoor "crazy golf" club in Dupont Circle featuring gourmet street food and specialty cocktails. Fun Fact: We spent one of our first dates here. It’s the perfect place to see if your partner is a graceful winner (or a sore loser!).

Lucky Strike Arlington

320 23rd Street South, Arlington, VA 22202

The Vibe: A lively, modern bowling alley that’s great for groups. Fun Fact: This was the site of our very first date! We’ve traded the bowling shoes for wedding shoes, but this place will always be where it all began.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

1400 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

The Vibe: An iconic and powerful museum on the National Mall. It’s a must-visit for the history, the architecture, and the Sweet Home Café. Fun Fact: This museum is extra special to us, you can actually find John’s Dad featured in one of the exhibits!* Note: Remember to grab your free timed-entry passes online well in advance.

SHĹŚTĹŚ Washington DC

1100 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

The Vibe: A high-energy, ultra-sleek spot where contemporary Japanese flavors meet a sophisticated, "see-and-be-seen" atmosphere. Between the central DJ and the open robata grill, it’s our go-to for a glamorous night out in the city. The Memory: While we didn’t make it official here, SHOTO holds a special place in our hearts. We had one of our most memorable dates here early on, and we still talk about the food and the energy of that night!
