On-Site Fun at Chalet View Lodge
Want to stay put and soak it all in? The lodge has plenty to offer - relax by the pool, hit the hiking trails, or grab a drink at the brewery. We’re planning to organize a few casual competitions too - think sand volleyball, bocce, and maybe even cornhole. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the setting and ease into the celebration, especially on the morning of the wedding.
Lake Basin
Some of the best hiking in the Sierras - all within a short drive of Portola. Lakes Basin Trail A scenic trail with multiple routes to choose from. You'll find alpine lakes, granite peaks, and sweeping views - whether you're in the mood for a light stroll or a longer trek. Long Lake Loop This peaceful loop winds through forest and meadow before landing at Bear Lake. A great option for a mid-morning hike with lots of fresh air and wildflowers. Sardine Lakes A further drive, but a short and stunning hike that leads to the crystal-clear waters of the Sardine Lakes, framed by the dramatic Sierra Buttes. Great spot for a picnic or an easy afternoon outing.

Enjoy the peaceful rhythm of morning fishing in the mist, cocktails on the lake gazebo or find yourself settling into the lakeside restaurant for a unique culinary delight. The restaurant is very busy in the summer and dinner only has two seatings per night, so book reservations early in advance.
