So excited to celebrate with you!

Shelby and Ryan were both in grad school at the time, but in different programs so they never met. This changed on a cold night in the winter of 2017 when they both were studying on campus. When Shelby arrived to start a paper that was due the next day she realized the internet was out, deciding to stay anyways she opened her laptop and busily began. Ryan who started and finished his paper days before decided to leave and grab some dinner at Qdoba. Ryan walked by Shelby on his way out, he thought she was cute but unsure what to say so he ended up just leaving. After a burrito in his belly he decided to muster up the courage and go back to campus, he had thought of the perfect line. Opening the door to Shelby's study room he said “Hey is your internet working?” And it was a done deal from there.

Ryan planned a trip to Sedona Arizona in April of 2021. Once arriving to the hotel Ryan advised he wanted to climb Cathedral rock, which was part of a vortex. Shelby was tired from traveling and asked if they could just go the following day. Ryan responded with a firm no, and proceeded to strap on his hiking boots. Once they got to the parking area the attendant told them the lot was closed and they needed go to the next one, which was a mile back. Shelby asked again maybe we should go tomorrow, where Ryan responded No. Once parked shelby globbered on sunscreen all over her face and arms ready for the Arizona sun. After walking a mile to the base of the mountain they finally started their journey. Shelby was frequently stopping to take many pictures, Ryan who is usually patient with Shelby told her enough pictures lets get to the top. Shelby was confused, put her camera back in her pocket and new she was definitely going to bring that comment up later on at dinner. While they were almost there the sun screen started to melt and bother Shelby's eyes. She could not see very well but pushed through it since they were close to the top. At the top Ryan immediately took Shelby out to a ledge and got down on one knee. Shelby could not see very well from the sunscreen but immediately said yes half way through Ryan's speech! She then decided to not bring up the picture comment at dinner, that one could slide for the night.
