Need a place to watch some football after getting into town? Say no more. Indoor and outdoor seating with TVs everywhere and yard games ready to play.
There are four trails here (Eagle's View, Raven's Roost, Elkhorn Trail and Hummingbird and Songbird Loop), ranging from 2-4 miles that offer great views of the front range. Eagle's View is the most recommended of the trails.
Park View, Strawberry Jack and Pine Lake Loop trail. This is a fairly simple 2.9 mile loop. Hike around a lake near the mouth of the South Platte River and up a few hundred feet for an overview of the area.
Located near Bailey, Co., this hike is less than a mile out and back. While short, this hike doesn't lack in scenic views of the front range from the top of Mount Bailey.
Want a real challenge? Why not hike one of Colorado's 14ers? About seven miles to the top of the mountain and back, Bierstadt is Colorado's most accessible hike to above 14,000 feet. But make no mistake, this isn't a sleep in and leisurely stroll up the hill type hike. You need to be at the trailhead by 7 a.m. and even then, the weather is no guarantee. It could be 75 and sunny at the trail head and snowing on the summit. Do research before attempting. Shelby and I have both done it and it's absolutely worth the effort, but also takes preparation. Anticipate 7-8 hours to complete the hike and at least a day of acclimation before your hike.

Hiking not your thing? Spend an entire day and take a drive through the mountains to Breckenridge and back. Head west on I-70 to Frisco, Co., then head south on Highway 9 through Breckenridge. Turn east on Highway 285 and start the trek back through the mountains to Denver. Or reverse the trip if you're staying closer to the venue. Drive time is about five hours, but you will stop along the way and get distracted. Idaho Springs is a favorite stop for lunch or dinner.
