Hi everyone! We are excited to still celebrate on September 20th as planned. We wanted to update everyone with what we know in regards to your safety in regards to COVID-19. We spoke with our venue this week and they were very helpful. They do about half a dozen weddings there per week and have been re-opened for the past month and half, so they are very prepared! Safety measures for our wedding will include: - Max guest count of 75. - The ceremony is outside, guests will be seated by household 6 ft apart. - Cocktail hour will be outside and appetizers will be brought to you. - All drinks, coffee and water included, are served at the bar, no self-serve. - During the reception, half tables will be outside and the other half will be inside. Two of the four walls of the reception hall are doors that will remain open. All tables are at least 8 ft apart and will have a max of 8 people at each. - Dinner is a buffet, but it will be plated for you. We will dismiss one table at a time to get food. - All staff are wearing masks and gloves. - The venue is thoroughly sanitized before and after each event by the staff. - Staff will sanitize common touch points throughout the night. - There are hand sanitizer stations available. - We ask that guests wear masks when inside and not sitting at your table or drinking (this is current CO mandate). We will have masks there for you if you need them. We ask that if you are experiencing COVID symptoms to contact us and stay home. We are happy to seat you inside or outside if you have a preference (make sure to check the weather and pack an extra jacket). Please be sure to RSVP yes or no under the RSVP tab above, even if you’ve already given us a verbal answer. We are pushing back the RSVP deadline to 8/20. Please do not RSVP yes if you are unsure, just talk to us and let us know. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know! Thank you so much!!
Shelby and I met at the University of Nebraska, where we both worked in the weight room at the campus rec center. I first noticed Shelby at a staff meeting in Spring '14. We worked a few shifts together over that summer and I realized I was developing a crush. So I ever so smoothly got her number and started texting her. Of course, just as I did that, she went to The Ozarks for a week, followed by going home to Texas for another two weeks after that (I didn't get the hint that she was trying to run away from me). I persisted until she had to come back to Lincoln for the start of the fall semester and agreed to go on a date with me. Our first date was to Lazlo's in the Haymarket and our meal ended up being free because our waiter said it took too long to serve us. I took that as a good sign that the date was going well, because it did not feel like we were waiting around long at all for our food. On Aug. 28, we made it official. After graduating from Nebraska in December 2015, I took a job at The Columbus Telegram as a sports reporter, starting our two years of long distance. I went back most weekends to see Shelby, but then she moved to Kansas City for grad school, making the trip even longer, but we made it work. In March 2018, I decided to move to Kansas City to live with Shelby. A year later, with the help of two of Shelby's best friends, I picked out an engagement ring. In June 2019, I had intended to propose the first evening we were in Florida on vacation, but both bridges to Destin were closed due to accidents. Instead of getting to our condo in the early afternoon, we didn't make it until around 8 p.m. So I called an audible on the fly and waited until the next morning to do it. On June 15, 2019, in front of her parents, my dad, Sherree and a few random beach-goers, I proposed on the sand in Miramar Beach, Florida. Shelby promptly grabbed the ring out of my hand before actually saying "yes". She was just a little bit excited.
The year was 2014. I had been working at the UNL rec center since the beginning of the year, but it was now summer and somehow I still hadn't officially met Kollin despite working on the weight room staff together. I would see him around and knew who he was, but being the awkward individual that I am I never introduced myself. One day in July, we finally worked our first shift together. Kollin tried to impress me with stories from his recent 21st birthday week and all of the crazy things he and his friends did to celebrate. He told me about the tattoo he recently got along with his dad and brother to honor his mom who had passed. Conversation flowed easily and I kept thinking to myself, "man this kid talks a lot!" Not long after that, I was scheduled to work a double shift on a Friday night by myself. It was a shift that someone could pick up if they wanted to, but who wants to give up their Friday night? Well, a certain someone wanted to spend his Friday night with me so he picked up the shift... so obvious. We had a great time but he knew I was about to go out of town for awhile. Nevertheless, he persisted! He slid into my Facebook DMs, casually asked for my phone number and texted me almost daily while I was gone to ensure I would not forget about him! When I came back to Lincoln, he asked me out on an actual date so of course I obliged. It went so well the restaurant even gave us our food for free! Next thing we knew, Kollin and I were spending a lot of time together. Fast forward Spring of 2016 and Kollin moved to Columbus, NE for work. That August of 2016, I moved down to KC for school. Long distance was not our fave but as they say, distance really does make the heart grow fonder. Eventually I enticed Kollin into moving to KC and in July of 2018 we moved into our first apartment together. Best decision we ever made. A year later we got engaged! I am so grateful for the joy Kollin has brought into my life. I can't wait for September 20, 2020.
