I met Michael at a classmate's party while attending Oregon State University. Michael had recently transferred from Oregon State to Portland State University, and was visiting his friends. We hit it off almost instantly. Michael kept asking me question after question, trying to place how he knew me. We had both previously been competitive swimmers on some of the best teams in Oregon. Once we made the connection, we kept discovering more similarities and interests. I don't think I have ever connected with someone so quickly in my entire life. It was comfortable from the first conversation. Perhaps without the 20 questions.
Michael proposed to me at the same place we went on our first date. We woke up and went to our favorite breakfast place, Millers Homestead. Our stomachs full and happy, we both decided to go for a hike at Washington Park. For anyone not from Oregon, this park is near our zoo and I grew up exploring these woods. When I realized we were recreating the very first hike we ever went on together, I knew he was going to propose. I admit, I started crying before his knee even hit the ground. Clearly, I said yes.
