Uh, kind of! Glen Echo used to be an amusement park in the early 1900s but closed in the '60s. It's now a national park and though none of the rides except the antique carousel remain it still functions as a local center for arts and community gathering place.
When you get your actual invitations. Should be soon!
We love our friends and we love our friends' kids. If you are interested in bringing a child just send us a text so we can accommodate!
Short answer: Cocktail casual. Colorful outfits recommended! Longer answer: We want everyone to feel good in what they're wearing. This can mean getting dolled up or wearing something that just feels like YOU. After all, the better you feel the more fun you'll have. Our goal is to spend time with you and to have a great day doing so. Keep in mind that it's going to be early September and the venue is outdoors with just fans for cooling, so we recommend against heavy fabrics. If you've got something colorful that fits an amusement park vibe, all the better! Additional note: If there is no rain in the forecast, we will be having our ceremony in an uncovered space. Please consider sun protection!
For those with cars there is ample parking at Glen Echo Park. Please see the Glen Echo website for details: https://glenechopark.org/directions. There is a smaller parking lot by the main road that is restricted use. Please use the larger parking lot by Clara Barton National Historical Site (use 5801 Oxford Road, Glen Echo, MD 20812 as the address in your wayfinding app of choice) Carpooling shouldn't be necessary, but feel free to if it's convenient. For those without cars we're planning to charter a shuttle from our blocked hotel in Bethesda, so you can metro over to Bethesda and take the shuttle. More info on that later!
