Question

It looks like rain... are you prepared? How should I prepare?

Answer

Don't you worry, our venue for the ceremony and reception is fully covered. Might be a good idea to bring an umbrella for the walk from the parking lot though.

Question

How can I get to the venue? Is there parking?

Answer

There are two parking areas for Glen Echo Park. The smaller parking lot by the main road has restricted use before 4pm. We ask that use of that lot be left preferentially for individuals that may have difficulty walking longer distances. If you're arriving before 4 and/or are comfortable walking, please use the larger parking lot by Clara Barton National Historical Site (use 5801 Oxford Road, Glen Echo, MD 20812 as the address in your wayfinding app of choice). Both parking lots are free of cost and will have signage directing you to the wedding location. If you are driving and a member of your party has marked mobility concerns, there is a loading dock directly behind the Bumper Car Pavilion. You can access this area for drop offs and pick ups, but may NOT park there for the duration of the event. To find the loading dock, direct your way finding app of choice to the Irish Inn at Glen Echo (6119 Tulane Ave, Glen Echo, MD 20812). If you drive past the Irish Inn, at the end of Tulane Ave you will see the loading area (there is a Do Not Enter sign posted to prevent people from pulling in to park). You may enter to drop off your passenger before exiting to the main road. Keep in mind the loading dock is a dead end and catering staff will be present. If you choose to use the loading dock, we ask that you let someone know in advance when to expect your arrival so that we know to keep an eye out for you! Carpooling shouldn't be necessary, but feel free to if it's convenient! For those without cars, we are chartering a shuttle from our block hotel in Bethesda. If metro-ing or staying at separate hotel, you can meet the shuttle at the entrance of the block hotel. It is a short walk from the Bethesda metro stop. The shuttle will leave from the hotel at 4PM the day of. There will be an early shuttle back to the hotel at 9:30PM and another after the wedding concludes at 11PM.

Question

What is this venue? Is it an amusement park?

Answer

Uh, kind of! Glen Echo used to be an amusement park in the early 1900s but closed in the '60s. It's now a national park and though none of the rides except the antique carousel remain it still functions as a local center for arts and community gathering place.

Question

When can I RSVP?

Answer

When you get your actual invitations. Should be soon!

Question

Can I bring my kid(s)?

Answer

We love our friends and we love our friends' kids. If you are interested in bringing a child just send us a text so we can accommodate!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Short answer: Cocktail casual. Colorful outfits recommended! Longer answer: We want everyone to feel good in what they're wearing. This can mean getting dolled up or wearing something that just feels like YOU. After all, the better you feel the more fun you'll have. Our goal is to spend time with you and to have a great day doing so. Keep in mind that it's going to be early September and the venue is outdoors with just fans for cooling, so we recommend against heavy fabrics. If you've got something colorful that fits an amusement park vibe, all the better! Additional note: If there is no rain in the forecast, we will be having our ceremony in an uncovered space. Please consider sun protection!
