Weddings play a special matchmaking role in the Lloyd household. Jessica, Jenn’s older sister, met her husband Darryl Monroe at a wedding in 2014. And Jenn reconnected with Daniel at the Monroe wedding in 2017, and have been inseparable ever since. You could blame it on alcohol, the dancing, or the magical love in the air… but this wedding is a result of a relationship more than 15 years in the making. Jenn and Daniel have known each other since 2005 as they walked the halls of Hamilton High School. Daniel was in numerous classes with Jessica, and Jenn played soccer with Daniel’s younger sister Rachel. Over the years, they became good friends and even had a running joke as “boyfriend and girlfriend.” (The mutual agreement promised that if either person found themselves in an awkward situation, there was one number you could always call or text, day or night, no questions asked.) It took a couple months after the wedding to finally make that joke a reality, but the two eventually took the dive. They dated long-distance for about 18 months before Daniel traded his affordable home in Springfield, Missouri for a an overpriced, project-laden 60+ year old house in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. The move was worth every penny.
Many of us will think back harshly on the COVID-19 pandemic when it’s all said and done, but there is a soft spot for Jenn and Daniel: The proposal. After the diamond spent 3 months locked down in India due to the coronavirus, Daniel finally popped the question on June 20, 2020 in front of both their families during a trip back to Arizona. Jenn’s outfit is evidence that she was completely caught off-guard, and the video proves that she didn’t even know what finger the ring went on. Still to this day – it is the only time Daniel has seen her shed a tear.
