Question

What Should I Wear To The Welcome Party?

Answer

Casual Western. We want to celebrate our roots from Texas to Colorado, Oklahoma, Missouri, and beyond. Think boots, jeans, hats, bolo ties - whatever you're comfortable in! Come ready to mix, mingle, drink, and dance. We will be wearing jeans!

Question

What Should I Wear To The Wedding?

Answer

Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses. The groom will be wearing a suit! Of Note: The ceremony will be outdoors, but the reception and dancing will take place indoors with a beautiful outdoor patio and heaters to enjoy. Also, March is the snowiest month in Colorado, so we encourage you to plan accordingly!

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

Our formal wedding festivities will begin on Friday, but if you're able to arrive on Thursday we recommend it! Friday afternoon ski traffic on I-70 is notorious, and could extend your drive significantly - especially if there's weather. Plus, a Thursday arrival means more time to enjoy all the winter activities available!

Question

Where can I rent downhill skis?

Answer

If you want to ski at Winter Park during your visit (we recommend you do!), there are many options for ski rentals. Our favorite local rental company is Christy Sports, but there are a number of other rental shops in the area as well as the option to rent ski equipment through Winter Park Resorts. We strongly recommend reserving your rentals in advance! Question

What Is Altitude Sickness?

Answer

We are so glad you asked! Denver is known as the "Mile High City" with an altitude of 5,280 ft (exactly a mile above sea level) and Winter Park is at or above 9,000 ft in elevation. We are aiming for all guests to arrive happy and hydrated - but altitude sickness affects about 20% of travelers. Altitude Sickness is often characterized by symptoms including headaches, nausea, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, fatigue, shortness of breath.

Question

AND HOW DO I AVOID THE AFOREMENTIONED AWFUL SOUNDING ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Answer

• Water, water, water - drink 2-3x as much water as you usually do the day before traveling, while traveling, and while you are in Colorado • Eat foods high in potassium - foods such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, celery, greens, bran, chocolate will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake • Limit caffeine and alcohol for the first day • Take it easy physically - your ability to breathe is lower at altitude, think 3 mile run instead of a 5 mile run

Answer

While we love your kiddos, we're planning to have an adults only celebration. Kids are welcome to join for the welcome party on Friday if they're traveling with you, and we're happy to put you in touch with a list of local babysitters if you need help finding childcare in the area!
