Train
For those traveling by train, here’s how you can reach Geitau and Bayrischzell: To Geitau: Take a train to München Hauptbahnhof (Munich Main Station). From there, board the Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB) line towards Bayrischzell. Get off at Geitau station. The journey from Munich takes about 1.5 hours. Please note that this train often splits halfway to Geitau, please make sure you are in the right carriage indicated on the signage. To get to Bayrischzell, you can continue one more stop only a few minutes away. For schedules and ticket prices, we recommend checking the Trainline App or the Deutsche Bahn website or app.
Flight
Frankfurt, Munich, or Others
For our guests traveling from Vancouver to Geitau, Germany, there are several flight options to consider. The most common route is to fly into Munich Airport (MUC), which is about 1.5 hours by car or train from Geitau. Direct flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Munich are available on airlines such as Lufthansa and Air Canada, typically taking around 10 hours. Alternatively, you can also fly into Frankfurt (FRA) or Zurich (ZRH), which offer good connections to Geitau via regional flights or trains. For guests traveling from Calgary, there are also direct flights available to Munich with airlines like Lufthansa and Air Canada. For guests travelling from Ghana, you can fly via Istanbul, Amsterdam, Brussels or Paris on airlines like Turkish Airlines, KLM, and Brussels Airlines. You can then take a connecting flight to Munich. Once in Munich, you can easily catch a train or rent a car for the journey to Geitau (see below). For our guests travelling from within Europe or the UK, in addition to Munich International Airport (MUC). There are a few other alternatives: 1. Innsbruck Airport (Austria) Approximately 2 hours by car Transport to Geitau: From Innsbruck, you can take a train or drive to Geitau. 2. Memmingen Airport (Germany) Approx. 1.5-2 hours by car or take a train via Munich Memmingen is a hub for low-cost airlines like Ryanair and offers direct flights from cities across Europe. 3. Nuremberg Airport (NUE) – Germany Approximately 2 hours by car, has a main train station with connections to Munich and other cities, so you can easily transfer via train. 4. Salzburg Airport (SZG) – Austria Distance: About 2 hours by car (160 km). From Salzburg, you can take a train or drive. We recommend booking your flights early and checking for the best connections to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey. Feel free to reach out if you need any travel tips or assistance!
Travel Note
Where to stay
We recommend staying in either Geitau, Osterhofen, Bayrischzell, or in the surrounding area. If you are not renting a car, we would recommend staying within walking distance from a train station as there are limited options for taxis in the area. All of the accomodation in Geitau will be walkable from the wedding venue. There is a train that goes from Bayrischzell and Osterhofen to Geitau during the day up until 10pm and returns to Osterhofen and Bayrischzell up until 1am. The train costs 4 EUR each way, and takes about 6 minutes. A shuttle will be organized for the night of the wedding to drop guests off in both towns. If you have a car, or would like to organize your own transport, you can stay anywhere in the area :)

Bayrischzell Area
This website offers many options for guesthouses and hotels in Bayrischzell area which is only a 5 minute drive (actually 5 minutes not more) from the wedding venue. There is also a train which takes 6 minutes and runs frequently. We will be organizing a shuttle home for the night of the wedding for those who will need it.
