Question

Best way to get to Denver from the airport?

Answer

Denver International Airport (DIA) is located 30-40 minutes east of downtown Denver. If you are renting a car, you can follow Interstate-70 west all the way to downtown Denver and into the mountains! For those not driving or renting a car, you can take the RTD light rail directly from the airport to downtown Denver (Union Station) for $9. The RTD light rail runs every 15 minutes from DIA and Union Station and takes 35 minutes. Note: The wedding hotel is located in downtown Denver and the wedding venue is located in Sedalia, CO (approximately 30-40 minutes south by car). Shuttles will be provided to/from the wedding hotel and venue.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

We absolutely love your kids; however, we are asking that children under five-years-old not attend the wedding ceremony or reception. We would love to see them at the welcome party on Saturday and brunch on Monday. Check-out many of the kid friendly activities included under 'Things to Do'! We hope your entire family will enjoy visiting the Rockies.

Question

What about the weather?

Answer

The weather forecast ranges from the high-70s in the afternoon to low-60s in the early morning and evening. Our wedding venue will be near the foothills of the mountains (Sedalia, CO) and the average temperatures may be a touch cooler. As they say, it is a “dry heat” so it should feel quite comfortable but do bring layers as it can feel chilly at night. It rarely rains in Colorado, but be very careful about afternoon fast-moving storms which can be severe. If you are in the mountains or going hiking, we recommend getting an early start since lightning can be a real concern after 2pm.

Question

Any tips for dealing with the altitude?

Answer

Hydration – Denver is a high altitude desert climate so it is easy to get dehydrated. Drink lots of fluids and don't forget bring a water bottle or camel pack. Alcohol – Alcohol has more of an effect at altitude, especially when you haven’t acclimated. Two beers can feel like four, so drink plenty of water along the way. Sunscreen – The thin air and the high altitude mean it is easy to end up with a sunburn, so high SPF sunblock is highly recommended. Also, don't forget a hat and sunglasses!
