This is one of our favorite spots for a weekend trip. It is just under a 2 hour drive from Port Angeles. It is a nice 2 mile hike to the North-Westernmost point in the contiguous 48. It offers beautiful views and the chance to view whales in the distance.
Ruby Beach is an iconic stop along the 101 in Olympic National Park. It is also the place we had our engagement photos done. It offers beautiful views and fantastic tide pool viewing if you plan to visit at low tide. There is no park entry fee to access this portion of the park.
If you are a Twilight fan this may be a stop you want to make. It is 1 hour from Port Angeles and it is on the way to many points of interest in Olympic National Park.
Sol Duc Falls is a wonderful waterfall that has a nice 1.8 mile hike to see it. It is only an hour from Port Angeles and is a great option for a fairly local excursion. Along the same road is the Salmon Cascades where salmon and trout have to make the leap of a lifetime up a small waterfall to reach their spawning area. Between late March and early May you can see steelhead trout on their way to spawn.
