The Proposal

August 3rd, 2019

All summer long I had been giving Jace some not subtle hints about marriage. I had sent him multiple emails that led him to my dream engagement ring. We had already talked about so many wedding details before the proposal even happened! So on our trip back to Jace's hometown, I had a gut feeling that this was the weekend! The day before he proposed we went to a wedding, and at the reception Jace "accidentally" caught the garter! It dropped right at his feet and everyone screamed and cheered for him to pick it up. I was filled with shock and excitement. "This is a sign!" I thought. While poor Jace's face was overcome with confusion and embarrassment. The following day was full of adventure and fun. I knew that today was the day that he finally popped the question! We started the morning by hiking at the beautiful Gooseberry Falls with Scooter. It was amazing, but no ring....Next, we had a romantic dinner at my favorite restaurant, Va Bene. It was delicious and perfect, but no ring. Soon afterward, we made a pitstop to Brighton Beach. I waited and waited....until finally, I realized that there wasn't going to be a proposal here either! I'm not going to lie, I was starting to get a little disappointed. The sun was about to set, so we began to drive back to Cloquet. Without warning, Jace started to drive to one of our favorite locations; Jay Cooke State Park. At this point, I figured the whole proposal thing just wasn't going to happen. We stood looking at the majestic scenery for quite some time. My back was turned to Jace, I was enjoying the tranquility of watching the water flow. Jace began to poke me in the back, so I sarcastically said: "what do you want?". That's when he spun me around, put the ring on my finger and said "your hand in marriage." I immediately hug him and start to cry. I'm so happy that I almost forget to say yes! It was perfect. Later on, I found out that all day Jace had planned to propose....but he kept forgetting the ring in the car.
