FAQs

Question

Outfit, shoes, dress code?

Answer

Our colors are Jewel Tones, but please wear whatever color you feel best in. Business casual to semi-formal is welcome, as long as you can dance! The ceremony will be outside, so please choose your footwear accordingly. The ground might be soft, uneven, or wet. While we have a "Hobbit/Elven" theme, we do want this event to be more formal. A fantasy-inspired or fantasy-coded outfit is fine, but please don't come in full costume. (Ironically, this is Amanda's request, haha.)

Question

Parking?

Answer

Belvoir has its own parking lot! For ease of access (and because street parking can be stressful, especially in KC) we specifically wanted a venue with its own parking lot.

Question

Will there be other guests at the Belvoir?

Answer

Yes! We have the venue rented for the day, but other guests will also be milling about. The only exception will be during the ceremony, where street traffic and other guest-wandering will be halted for the duration of the ceremony.

Question

Are children welcome for this wedding?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. We've both attended weddings where, while beautiful and happy-tear-inducing, the ceremony or various aspects were overshadowed by a fussy or upset child. As much as we love children, we do not want to experience interruptions on our special day. (Amanda loves children. We all know this. But she will be upset if someone cries during her vows, and we don't want an unhappy bride, haha). Please leave your sweet babies at home or find alternative accommodations, as this will be an adult-only event.

Question

Diversity!

Answer

Unfortunately, with the state of things, we feel the need to add this to our FAQ list. These are non-negotiable. If you are unable to accommodate this, it is regrettable but please decline your RSVP. We will have attendees of all backgrounds, political views, romantic preferences, and gender identities. Everyone receiving an invitation is beloved and important to us. Any hostility due to conflicting beliefs or lifestyles will not be tolerated. We do live in a robust, diverse world. This event is no different. Please conduct yourself with respect and kindness.

Question

Bathrooms!

Answer

When viewing venue options, Amanda specifically wanted a place with several bathroom stalls. We all hate waiting in line. Hopefully this isn't an issue at Belvoir! That being said, following our Diversity note, everyone is welcome to use whatever bathroom they identify with. If this is uncomfortable for you, please wait until they are done before using it yourself. "Patience is a virtue," right? Again, this will be a diverse event. The bathrooms are no exception. Please conduct yourself with respect and kindness.
