We have booked the Treetops Glacier Lodge from August 6th-9th (3 nights). More accommodation info is posted in the "Lodging, Dining & Activities" page.
Please see the Travel page for all travel-related questions, including which airport to fly into, available flight options, rental cars, and when to book flights (https://www.zola.com/wedding/shauneandnate/travel). There will be enough rental cars among attendees to coordinate airport pickup/dropoff for those without rental cars. Please fill out the Questionnaire linked on the "Links, Lodging & Activities" page with your airport arrival and departure times and we will coordinate carpools!
There should not be any need to arrive earlier than the day before the wedding (August 6th). and departure will be August 9th. However, if you are extending your trip to Montana, you will need to adjust your travel dates based on your own plans.
The park requires a Timed Entry Vehicle Reservation to enter the park between 7am-3pm. Our ceremony location is booked for 4-6pm, so we may not be entering the park before 3pm, but have secured Timed Entry passes for 4 vehicles just in case and will distribute the printed passes to the driver of each vehicle before departing for the ceremony. If you plan to visit the park outside of the ceremony, you will need a Timed Entry Vehicle Reservation to enter between 7am-3pm for the other days of your visit. In addition to Timed Entry Vehicle Passes ($2) which permit entry during specific hours, a Park Entrance Pass ($35) is also required. Entrance Passes cover all occupants in one vehicle and typically cover multiple dates within the same week. * Park Entrance Passes can be purchased at https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/74280, or in person at the park during operating hours. * Timed Entry Vehicle Reservations will be available 120 days in advance of the visit date, or after 7pm the day before, on www.recreation.gov. Each of the specified areas of the park will require a separate vehicle reservation, so make sure you book your reservation for the area you plan to visit.
We expect that enough guests will have rental cars that we can carpool to the park in 3-4 vehicles for the ceremony. Only 4 vehicles are covered by our Special Use Permit for a 10-20 guest ceremony.
Our ceremony spot is booked for 4-6pm, so likely 4:30 at the earliest. Note, our booking does not provide private access to the ceremony location; it will still be open to the public. The ceremony will be short, with time for group photos afterward. After photos, Nate and Shaune will spend around 3 hours in the park with the photographer for couple photos; during this time, guests are free to make stops along the route back out of the park (around a 1.5-hour drive) for their own photos, or to return to the Lodge to hang out, hydrate, and have some snacks. Shaune and Nate will return to the Lodge for dinner and the afterparty around 9:00pm. The full timeline is available on the Timeline page.
Dress code is semi-formal - no jeans, flannels or baseball caps! Full length or midi dresses are perfect. Suits or dress pants & dress shirt for men (tie optional). STEER CLEAR: white, baby blue, mint/light green (bridal party colors) GOOD TO GO: pastels and light neutrals! Lavender, pastel yellow, coral/light orange, teal, periwinkle, candy/baby pink, browns and beiges.
There will be a small afterparty (with food, music and possibly a bonfire!) at the Lodge, and then (hopefully in the wee hours of the morning!) everyone gets to retire to bed without setting foot back in a car. No alcohol permitted at the Lodge.
Adult invitees only. If you intend to bring someone who was not specifically invited, please ask Shaune or Nate, as headcount is limited at the ceremony per Park rules, and Lodge sleeping capacity is 24 (including bunk beds).
With the wedding falling later in the day, we plan to have brunch as a group at the Lodge earlier int he day. We are also considering options for different activities to do in smaller groups the day after the wedding (golfing, shopping, boat reservation, etc.) - if you have any ideas, let us know!
August is typically warm during the day and cool at night in Glacier, with average maximum temperatures in the low 80s and average minimum temperatures in the high 40s. It is recommended to pack layers - especially if you plan on hiking! Glacier does not typically get snow in August and there tends to be minimal rain, however, the ceremony will be held at our approved spot in the park rain or shine!
You can ask Shaune or Nate your questions, however, please make sure to visit our other pages, including the Travel, Lodging, and Timeline pages, to make sure your question isn't answered here!
