Stephanie and Lindsay met during their first week of college. Lindsay was playing Dave Matthews and Steph, who lived across the hall, decided they could be friends. They recently celebrated their 10 year Friendaversary. Steph and Lindsay are foodie friends and share a love for Anne of Green Gables. Steph and her husband, Charlie currently live in Athens, GA.
Kyle Cotner

Kyle introduced himself to Shaun about 15 minutes into his first day working in the White House as Kyle had heard a fellow Floridian was joining team "W". Shaun and Kyle have been fast friends ever since, despite Kyle being a South Florida Bull (Go Knights!). They've experienced DC life together including Kyle's first time seeing snow, attending a Florida State Society party where Kyle first met/flirted with his wife, and numerous road-trips around the Mid-Atlantic. Shaun is also the proud Godfather of Kyle's first child.
Katie Englebert

It was a summer night and Katie had just moved to DC. She and Lindsay met one Saturday night and thus began a friendship to last. They became roommates, friends, and raised 2 dogs together. Katie teaches Lindsay not to be afraid of nature and is the only person who can get Lindsay to sleep in a tent or go canyoning. They tend to book international flights when they go out to brunch. Katie lives in Florida with her husband, Sam, and dog, Ben, who regularly Facetimes Gilbert.
Matt Haggard

Shaun also met Matt working in the White House for President Bush. Having visited 13 countries together (and counting), Shaun and Matt have had some pretty amazing adventures. Shaun almost convinced Matt to head out West and consider living in Seattle when Shaun was "finding himself" out there but Matt shortly met the love of his life and so they settled on buying houses a few doors down from each other after Shaun relocated back to the DC area.

Danielle and Lindsay became friends in elementary school and went to school together through high school graduation. They lived through middle school, boys, their first dance, prom, and graduation. They have been friends for over 20 years. Danielle lives in Atlanta, GA and knows all of Lindsay's secrets.
Nat Weber

Shaun and Nat met working on the same team in the White House and eventually became roommates in the greatest row house on Capitol Hill...Command Post One! Shaun credits Nat with giving him the travel bug beginning with Africa in 2010 and the many more that followed.
Allyson Matlock

Allyson and Lindsay are sisters in law - Allyson married Lindsay's brother, Joe, 5 years ago. They are both introverts who love some quiet time and an early bedtime. Allyson is a wonderful baker who could teach Lindsay a thing or two. Allyson lives in Knoxville and is pregnant with her first baby... a girl!
Jon Thompson

Jon and Shaun have been friends for nearly as long as Shaun has lived in DC. JT, as he's affectionately referred, has also explored many cultures and interesting places around the world with Shaun over the years. But JT and Shaun share a love for 'getting back to their roots' with some good ol' fashioned Cracker Barrel or the many Zac Brown and Tim McGraw shows they've seen together.
Kalani Lestman

Kalani and Lindsay went to college together but didn't really know each other. A matchmaker friend told them that they should be roommates after Lindsay bought her house. Kalani and her dog, Charles, moved in and it was an instant match. When left home alone, Kalani and Lindsay like to dance and talk to each other in the voices of their dogs.
Nathan Harry

Nathan and Shaun became friends through Shaun's home church while living in Seattle. Nathan eventually became Shaun's work mate at Boeing where they essentially shared a desk and spent roughly 50+ hours a week together between work, church, and social life. Their shared passion for the outdoors and a good craft brew made them fast friends. Nathan and his family recently relocated to the east coast just a few hours drive from DC.
Katie Hardin

Katie and Lindsay met at church. Lindsay thought Katie had good taste in food, bourbon, and fashion and wanted to be her friend. Katie continues to teach Lindsay what it looks like to be a friend, a wife, and a mom in a world that doesn't value faithfulness, rest, or truth. Katie spends her time keeping 2 tiny, redheaded humans alive which can be a really tough job. She lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband, Jon, and the 2 tiny humans named Charlie and Leo.
Brandon Billester

Brandon was one of Shaun's first friends upon moving out west to the Emerald City, and continues to be someone Shaun looks up to and seeks out advice from even as he's moved on from his time on the west coast. Brandon led the community group Shaun was a member of at his local church in Seattle. Their shared love for the mountains and trails surrounding the pacific northwest provided for many great weekend adventures.
Jess Johnson

Jess joined Lindsay's community group at church about 5 years ago and they became friends. Jess and Lindsay are daily friends who help keep each other out of their own heads. Jess lives in Washington, DC and is the resident pediatrician.
Cooper Pettway

Cooper is the resident travel guru of Shaun's DC social group. Shaun and Cooper have shared many of those adventures together but Shaun only aspires to one day match Cooper's volume of exploration. Shaun and Cooper met working at, of all places, the TSA (no, they were not screeners).
Penny Smith

Penny is 3. She may be small but can definitely hold her own. She enjoys life to the fullest and loves being messy. Penny can usually be found splashing in a puddle, searching for worms, or being chased by one or both of her parents. Penny is Shaun's niece but is excited to get a new aunt! Or, as she calls Lindsay, Shaun's princess.
Ruby Smith

Ruby is 5. She loves anything that has to do with princesses and you can usually find her dancing in a pouffy dress and slippers, having a tea party or with her nose in a book. Ruby is Shaun's niece but is excited for "Shaun's princess" to become her new aunt!
Gilbert Matlock
Best Dog
Gilbert was named for Lindsay's first literary crush - Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables. He is 6 years old and has been with Lindsay since he was 8 weeks old. He is Lindsay's first indoor dog and can be found wherever she is. Gilbert likes to spend his Saturdays at the park, walking the neighborhood streets, or cuddling. He wants his own pool float and jumps in every body of water he sees. He is a city dog but likes to vacation on Matlock Farm. Gilbert can't catch a ball but he can terrify a squirrel. His tail instantly wags when he hears the words bunny or squirrel. He likes having Shaun around and is learning how to share his mom.
