A Sangeet is a pre-wedding celebration in Indian culture featuring music, dance performances, and other festive activities. It serves as a fun-filled gathering where both families come together to bond, celebrate the couple's upcoming union, and enjoy traditional songs, choreographed dances, and delicious food. We'll be bugging many of you ahead of time to join us for an evening full of choreographed Bollywood dances. (Skill level requirement = 0; in fact the worse you are, the less likely you are to expose Udai and Shauna...)
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Casual and simple. Recommended colors orange, yellow, magenta tones.
The Haldi is a vibrant (and quirky!) pre-wedding ritual, where the bride and groom are covered in turmeric paste and flowers as they prepare for the nuptials, showering them with love & blessings for a radiant and prosperous new life together!

Casual Attire; please note you will be asked to remove your shoes for entry to the Golden Temple grounds and can bring socks to wear if desired
After the morning haldi ceremony, we will be scheduling a tour of Amritsar for those who are interested to see the key attractions including The Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib), possibly the Wagha Border (India / Pakistan border), and a tour of our favorite spots to eat some authentic Punjab region food!

The Mehendi ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding celebration where intricate henna designs are applied to the bride's hands and feet (and for guests as well!), symbolizing blessings and joy for the upcoming marriage. This event will be a 'sundowner', a common term to describe the Mehendi ceremony in Indian culture, where people gather to socialize, enjoy music, and savor the ambiance of the setting sun.
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Indian formal wear or western suits (for men), conservative/modest | Head coverings are required for all guests, so we recommend women bring a scarf to cover their heads and a head covering will be provided for the men. Recommended colors are blush tones for bride's side and lilac tones for groom's side.
This is the traditional Sikh wedding ceremony and will be held at a Gurdwara (Sikh Temple).
