Lightsabers, wands & a little romance—thanks for being part of our happily ever after!

Shauna-Kaye and Justin actually went to middle school and high school together but didn’t really know each other back then. They had a class senior year, and Shauna-Kaye thought Justin was cute—though he had a girlfriend, so no sparks flew (at least not then). After graduation, Shauna-Kaye headed off to Penn State and later law school in Pittsburgh, while life took them on separate paths. Nearly two years after moving back home to South Florida from Pittsburgh, fate decided it was time for a second chance. On February 26, 2021, Shauna-Kaye and Justin found themselves sitting side-by-side at a local bar. Suddenly, the unmistakable scent of onion rings filled the air, and Shauna-Kaye couldn’t help but announce, “Who ordered those? They smell amazing!” She turned to Justin and said, “Great choice.” As she chatted with her friend, Shauna-Kaye had this nagging feeling: “Wait—I think I went to high school with that guy.” So, she turned back, started to say it... and before she could finish, Justin beat her to it: “Yeah, we did.” That was their icebreaker. They exchanged numbers and hit it off instantly—so much so that they finished each other’s sentences a couple of times, which even caught the attention of the people around them. They texted nonstop for the entire next week, and when they hung out the following Friday, they stayed together until 5 a.m. Shauna-Kaye thought maybe they were feeling each other out—seeing if something romantic might be there—but when she floated the idea of a date, Justin gently let her down. He wasn’t looking for a relationship, or anything romantic, just hoping to reconnect as friends. What followed was a beautiful month of friendship. They spent almost every day together, no pressure, no pretenses—just two people enjoying each other’s company and being themselves. It was the kind of easy connection that made it impossible to pretend they weren’t falling for each other. One day, what started as a casual outing felt a lot like a date—and from there, things changed. On March 31, 2021, just over a month after that serendipitous reunion, Shauna-Kaye and Justin officially started dating. Since then, Justin has unlocked Shauna-Kaye’s inner nerd with the magic of Star Wars and the wonder of Harry Potter—while she’s quietly helped him heal and embrace parts of himself he hadn’t fully known before. And well, the rest is happily ever after—or at least, every day together feels like it.
