Where to Stay

We hope you'll enjoy a little vacay time with your visit to Oregon! Below are a few Portland (PDX) and Hood River (HR) options. Or, check VRBO (Vacation rentals)! Matt/Sharon: ~Home in NE Portland Fri/Sat/Sun nights ~Hood River Mon/Tues nights. Hood River is ~1 hr 15 min drive (traffic depending) from NE Portland. It's a beautiful drive, so go in daylight to see waterfalls along the Gorge! Days are long in May, sunset after 8pm :) We'd love if you're in Hood River both Mon/Tues nights so we can have some relaxing post-wedding fun together! If you're coming to Oregon for just 2-3 nights, you may want to stay in Hood River the whole time. It's easy to come to Portland for the day from there. If staying longer, we'd love to have you in Portland with us Fri/Sat eve and Sun brunch (for family/wedding party). Nothing is planned for Sunday eve, so it's your choice Portland or Hood River (most of our family will stay in Hood River on Sunday).

Hotel

McMenamins Kennedy School

5736 Northeast 33rd Avenue, Portland, OR 97211

This is a fun, artsy, hotel/brew pub in a nearby neighborhood. This is the closest place to our home for the Portland part of your stay on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or post-wedding. There's multiple restaurants, bars, a soaking pool and even a movie theater right in the hotel! It was restored from a beautiful historic boarding school. There's art in every nook and cranny of this place, and it's walking distance from Alberta Arts district with lots more art and restaurants. This is the best place to get a feel for the NE Portland neighborhood where we live, and where most of our family will be staying on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great, basic hotel with indoor pool. We have some good friends staying here. This hotel is not as cutesy as some other places and shares a parking lot with a gas/convenience station, but there's a pool, and it's 15 min from the venue and 5 min drive from downtown Hood River. We have 9 rooms reserved at Holiday Inn Express for Sunday and Monday nights. This could also be expanded to Tuesday night. Please let us know if you're interested in one of these rooms: ~4 rooms with 1 King, ~4 rooms with 2 Queens ~1 suite with 2 Queens We got a good deal and they are priced at $175-$185/night including all taxes and fees. There's a 5-day cancellation, so we'll cancel on 5/19 if rooms are not filled.

Tucker Park Campground

4400 Riverside Dr, Hood River, OR 97031
 (541) 387-6889

First come first serve campground, less than 15 min from the venue and less than 15 min from downtown Hood River. Located along the actual "Hood" River. Crystal clear, glacier-fed river. Because the wedding is on Monday, lots of weekenders will be checking out. We visited on a weekday in May and there was mostly open spaces. Check out is at noon. We've used the day use area and gone for a dip here in the summertime. Beautiful spot. Pitch a tent, or rent an RV? If you need a loaner tent or camping gear, we have one set!
