Transportation and FAQ

Question

Can I use Public Transportation to get from Airport to Hotels and Hood River?

Answer

Yes! We have a decent light rail system in Portland called the Max, check it out!: https://trimet.org/max/ You can use the Max to get from the Airport to Lloyd center or Downtown. If you're staying at an airport hotel, there are shuttles available. If you're staying in NE Portland at the Kennedy school or a VRBO/Airbnb nearby, you can take Lyft/Uber, or call us and we'll come get you (or send a friend or family member to pick up!). To get from Portland to Hood River, there's a bus called The Columbia Gorge Express (CAT) - not sure why that's the acronym... https://www.ridecatbus.org/columbia-gorge-express/ You may also be able to use Flix Bus: https://www.flixbus.com/bus-routes We're looking into shuttle options from hotels in Hood River to/from the wedding venue on the wedding day. We'll keep you posted. There may also be carpooling options.

Question

What's the story with the Crag Rat Hut? Who are the Crag Rats?

Answer

All venue proceeds from the Crag Rat Hut go to funding the Crag Rats Search & Rescue (SAR) Team. The Hood River Crag Rats is America’s oldest mountain Search and Rescue organization. Crag Rats are specifically certified for technical rock and avalanche rescues. We are a volunteer group based in Oregon’s Hood River County and serving Mt. Hood, the Columbia Gorge, and assisting SAR groups in neighboring counties. "From Mt. Hood’s summit, glaciers, and ice-clad cliffs … to the waterfalls and ravines of the Columbia Gorge … the Crag Rats wish you safe travels in our ‘Hood. But if things should ever go south, the Crag Rats will do our best to get you home safely." To learn more about the Crag Rats, please visit cragrats.org.
