Jotaro and Sharon first met in The Tapestry Church kitchen in Richmond! On January 28, 2018, they were both serving in the Tap kitchen. Sharon was the Tap kitchen leader preparing food and drinks, while Jotaro was one of the helpers assigned for Tap kitchen clean-up. That day after volunteering, Mae Yen, the Tap Richmond Community Life Director, approached Jotaro and hinted that Jotaro should connect with Sharon, who was currently single. After becoming Facebook friends, he asked her out for coffee. They started to meet for rollerblading, gardening, and playing board games with mutual friends. After a few months, they officially started dating after Jotaro returned from his short-term mission trip in Japan. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, there have been challenges from the boundaries set by the government and by each other. It has been an opportunity for Sharon and Jotaro to understand one another in a very unique way and how they want to live life together. On September 19, 2021, Jotaro proposed! They got engaged and are now in the process of planning a smaller wedding while in the midst of the pandemic. During their journey, they learned a lot about how life is organic and that they cannot plan everything in life. But they are grateful for the abundant gifts that God has provided, and that especially includes one another. It may not be perfect in their eyes, but God has made all things perfect and beautiful. They hope that their wedding may be a celebration of love that God has showered upon them, and welcome you to this joyous celebration. "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality." Romans 12:13
