(Sharif) Serving the community and in the church grew into loving one another. We along with brother Aaron were becoming good friends during our prayer times before service and out in the community serving the homeless. We both rejected the notion of becoming an item for different reasons and would actually ask God not to let us fall for the other, but it happened anyway. I knew that something was happening when she was stranded one day while we were prepping to go serve and all I could think about was making sure that her and Nate got back safely and she had what she needed to be able to start her car. Trying to help a friend and single mom was my motive but as it turns out more was happening that neither of us expected. She would pray for me and my issues I was dealing with at times and encourage me that God would help get through the tough season I was going through. We continued serving in our church and hanging out with friends from the church in groups but she started to be highlighted to me and I her (I hope) LOL It was different to say the least but again we had both been married before and we use to ask each other and God, " what is happening"? We didn't understand how we could fall in love when neither of us wanted to or was looking for anyone. Thank God for knowing what we needed. HALLELUJAH! (Ferlene) I just want to add that when we met, I never would have imagined we would end up together. I had written a list back in 2013 for God of the qualities I wanted for my future husband. I told God I was going to wait on Him to pick my future husband. I focused on my relationship with The Lord and my Single Season has been so beautiful! I was content and falling in love was not even a thought. I had some deal breakers on the list and I had no idea then that praying for Sharif to be delivered from his addictions would lead to God transforming him into the man that checked off everything on my list! God cares about every detail! THANK YOU LORD!
(Sharif) Fast forward to the day after Thanksgiving. Engagement ring was purchased with thoughts and plans of proposing at Christmas in front of her family. But when she asked for the Christmas boxes I had stored at my house for her and Nate to decorate the tree with, I took that as my opportunity to propose. I couldn't contain the excitement nor the rush of what it would be like to finally be able to get down on bended knee in front of the woman I love and her sons (which is what she always wanted) and propose. We never saw it coming even though I bought the ring we were both still in shock. (Ferlene) When he asked me to marry him I was shocked because I did not expect it and there was so much going on around us (untangling lights to put on the tree, loud Christmas music, Google Home not listening to my multiple requests to turn it down. LOL) He was talking about how amazing I am and said he didn't want to live his life without me, then he got on one knee and opened the box and I was distracted by the rock in the box (have you seen my ring?) I think I kept saying "Are you serious right now? Then I said, "Wait, you asked me a question? Ask me again." And he was still on his knee the whole time! He asked me again “Ferlene Billones will you be my wife?” and I said "Yes, I would be honored to be your wife”. We didn't take any pictures of the special moment but maybe it's a good thing since we were both wearing sweats and a hoodie LOL But it was a special moment and especially because my Ryan and Nate were there. (Thanks Mahal) We are going from a family of 3 to Party of 4. What a blessing! We are excited to see what God has planned for us!
